Belfast goes thermal after Sudanese migrant arrested in brutal knife attack

In the latest grim chapter of a story that much of Europe has grown wearily familiar with, a Sudanese asylum seeker stands accused of attempting to murder a Belfast man by stabbing him and blinding him in one eye. The attack, captured in horrific graphic footage that spread like wildfire across the internet, has ignited not merely outrage but actual violence on the streets of Northern Ireland, violence that reveals the brittle fault lines beneath the surface of a society long lectured about the blessings of diversity.

First responders rushed to a Belfast neighborhood after violence erupted following a stabbing that seriously injured a local man.

Alodid appeared via video link in Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where he was remanded in custody. Prosecutors allege he blinded Stephen Ogilvie in his left eye during the assault. He faces charges of attempted murder, threatening to kill a radiographer, and possessing a knife. 

Speaking through an Arabic interpreter, Alodid declined legal representation and entered no plea.

The assault took place shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Monday in north Belfast. Police describe Ogilvie, a man in his forties, as suffering serious injuries to his face, neck, back, and eyes. A kitchen knife was recovered from the scene. Bystanders, including one wielding a hurling stick, intervened with what PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson rightly called “heroic” action. Their courage, it seems, was all that stood between the victim and a worse fate.

Yet the aftermath has been uglier still. 

Burned-out cars and boarded-up houses now scar McMaster Street in east Belfast. Masked men, acting in the shadows, set fire to homes they believed housed immigrants. They torched bins, attacked a bus, and hurled objects at police. Firefighters had to rescue people from blazing buildings. This is not the ordered protest of concerned citizens; it is the chaos that follows when trust in the authorities has collapsed and communities feel abandoned to their fate.

Authorities initially identified Alodid as Somali before correcting his nationality to Sudanese. He entered Northern Ireland from the Republic in 2023, claimed asylum, and was granted a five-year permit to remain, another reminder of how porous borders and generous asylum policies have reshaped these islands. Henderson insisted there was “no information to suggest that this was a terrorist-related incident.” You got to wonder what definition of terrorism is being employed when knives, blindings, and street disorder become routine features of urban life.

Anselme Shima, a resident originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, captured the fear now stalking ordinary people: “I’ve lived on my street for almost 10 years, I have a good relationship with my neighbors, but last night was a horrific one. We don’t know what to do. I’m scared. Seeing this, I’m wondering if I’m next.”

First Minister Michelle O’Neill of Sinn Féin described the unrest as “thuggery.” “Groups of masked men burning families out of their homes is nothing less than disgusting cowardice,” she said. 

Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly of the Democratic Unionist Party added: “taking frustration at the evil actions of a person out on those who had no part in it is utterly wrong.” Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the original stabbing “sickening” and condemned the subsequent violence: “The scenes in Belfast last night were shocking and completely unacceptable. 

There is no justification for the violence and disorder that we saw threatening our communities, nor for those who encouraged it, online or elsewhere. It is clear that people were targeted last night because of their background and I will not tolerate it.”

These are fine words, as such statements always are. Yet they arrive after years of policy that has treated mass immigration, chain migration, and lax asylum procedures as moral imperatives rather than experiments with profound and often irreversible consequences. The open border between Northern Ireland and the Republic, central to the fragile peace process that ended “The Troubles”—is now under scrutiny, as it should be. Working-class areas, where former paramilitaries still hold sway, have borne the brunt of this latest disorder.

This case echoes another recent horror: the murder of freshman student Henry Nowak in Southampton last year. Nowak, who was White, was stabbed repeatedly by Vickrum Digwa, a Sikh man who falsely claimed to have been the victim of a racist assault. Police initially treated the dying Nowak as a suspect. Digwa was convicted of murder and sentenced to life with a minimum of 21 years. Such stories accumulate, each one dismissed in isolation by officials desperate to avoid acknowledging a pattern.

The amplification of these events online by figures like Tommy Robinson is predictable. What is less discussed is why such voices find resonance: precisely because the institutions charged with maintaining order have spent years prioritizing narrative over reality. When communities watch their streets change beyond recognition, when stabbings and riots follow in predictable succession, and when the response is platitudes about “thuggery” rather than honest reckoning, unrest is not an aberration, it's the inevitable consequence of elite denial. 

Northern Ireland, like so much of the United Kingdom and Europe, is discovering the hard way that you cannot import large numbers of people from profoundly different cultures, place them under strained welfare systems, and expect social cohesion to magically endure. The bill for that illusion is now being paid in blood and fire.

Trump to grant refugee status to UK man prosecuted by Starmer government for Quran burning

The Trump administration is stepping up in a way that has the British establishment clutching their pearls tighter than a vegan at a barbecue: they're in talks to offer refugee status to Hamit Coskun, the guy who dared to torch a Quran outside the Turkish embassy in London.

If Coskun loses his so-called "blasphemy case" this week, the Crown Prosecution Service is pushing to reinstate his overturned conviction, the State Department is ready to bring him stateside as a refugee. This is one of several cases the administration has flagged, and it could turn the transatlantic free speech debate into a full-on shouting match.

Coskun, who fled Turkey after claiming Islamic terrorists wrecked his life and got asylum in the UK, made his point loud and clear by setting the book ablaze while yelling "Islam is religion of terrorism" and "f*ck Islam." 

A passerby promptly tried to stab him, then kicked him when he hit the deck. That attacker, Moussa Kadri, drew a mere 20-week sentence. Coskun however was originally hit with a religiously aggravated public order offense, which critics slammed as blasphemy-by-another-name, an offense the UK supposedly ditched 18 years ago. The National Secular Society and Free Speech Union jumped in, the conviction got flipped on appeal, but the CPS is back for round two in court Tuesday.

Prosecutors insist it was never about the burning itself, just "disorderly behavior in public." Sure, and one day chickens will blacken the skies.

Coskun told the Telegraph that if he loses, he may have no choice but to bolt.

"For me, as the victim of Islamic terrorism, I cannot remain silent. I may be forced to flee the UK and move to the USA, where President Trump has stood for free speech and against Islamic extremism," Coskun said. "If I have to do so, then, to me, the UK will have effectively fallen to Islamism and the speech codes that it wishes to impose on the non-Muslim world."

Look, the UK keeps sliding toward treating blunt criticism of certain ideologies like a felony, while the Trump team is signaling loud and clear: burn a book, shout your piece, get attacked for it, and then get prosecuted for offending the wrong feelings? Not on our watch. If the High Court sides with the prosecutors, don't be shocked if Coskun ends up trading rainy London for somewhere he can speak his mind without fearing a knock from the thought police. America still has room for guys who refuse to shut up.

Jihad Al-Shamie's Bloody Yom Kippur Rampage: Out on Rape Bail, In for a Knife Attack

If the British establishment needed another glaring exhibit in the case against their open-borders folly, here it comes: a Syrian import named Jihad Al-Shamie, fresh off bail for an alleged rape, plows his car into a synagogue crowd and starts slashing away on Yom Kippur. Two dead, three fighting for their lives, and the perp ventilated by cops before he could rack up a higher body count. Welcome to Keir Starmer's "broken Britain," where the only thing more predictable than the violence is the limp-wristed official response.

Al-Shamie, 35 and Syrian-born, had washed up in the UK as a teenager and apparently decided to repay the hospitality by building quite the rap sheet. He was slated for a Manchester courtroom date over a rape from earlier this year, per the Telegraph. Yet there he was, out on bail and anonymous to the terror watchdogs, until he wasn't.

"He was on nobody's radar for terrorism, but he definitely had a criminal record, though nothing to suggest he was going to do anything like this," a police source told The Guardian. Right, because nothing screams "low risk" like a guy with a history of sexual assault and a 2012 email death threat to a Tory MP who dared back Israel's self-defense. 

One missive from Al-Shamie to Conservative John Howell? "It is people like you who deserve to die," the Telegraph reported. Howell needed round-the-clock coppers after that gem. But hey, no red flags here, folks, just another day in the multicultural paradise.

It gets worse: Daddy Al-Shamie was out there cheering Hamas after their October 7 bloodbath that slaughtered 1,200 Israelis, according to the New York Post. Apples don't fall far from jihadist trees, do they?

No surprise, then, that as the blood dried outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester, the usual suspects hit the streets. Islamists and anti-Israel moonbats poured out, waving Palestinian flags, popping fireworks, and basically turning a house of worship's nightmare into their block party. All this just weeks after Starmer's Labour crew slapped Israel with a "genocide" label over Gaza, because nothing stokes Jew-hatred like prime ministerial virtue-signaling.

Reform UK's Nigel Farage didn't mince words, torching the whole rotten spectacle and the government's spineless stare-down. "The whole Jewish community in Britain [is] now deeply fearful. Within just a few hours of this horrific incident, we saw … pro-Palestinian flags on the streets, people out, previously unplanned, demonstrating. But here's the truth of it, they weren’t demonstrating, they were actually celebrating," Farage said on X. "I can’t even imagine we’ve ever seen such vile scenes on our streets, certainly not in my lifetime."

He saved his sharpest barbs for Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, the anti-Israel firebrand whose idea of crisis management is a sigh and a sad emoji. "In response to this, the Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, says she’s disappointed. Disappointed. That’s the most the Home Secretary can say," Farage continued. "Well, I hope all of you watching this video are outraged, outraged, and frankly frightened. This is broken Britain. This is evidence of societal breakdown. It is deeply worrying and very frightening."

Farage didn't stop there, flagging Starmer's fresh nod to a Palestinian state as just more fuel on the fire—and sounding the alarm on the "hate march" brewing in London this Saturday. "There is a big, big march planned in London this Saturday. And I think the only way we can describe it is a hate march," Farage said. "I must admit, saying this now to you today, I feel more worried about the state of broken Britain than I ever have before."

Spot on, Nigel. When a rape-suspect jihadi can waltz free to stab Jews on their holiest day, and the streets erupt in cheers while ministers mumble "disappointment," you've got a nation sleepwalking into the abyss. Labour's experiment in imported chaos is yielding exactly the horrors its critics predicted. Time to wake up, or brace for more blood in the aisles.

BREAKING: Anti-Semitic Attack in Manchester, UK--Jihadi Gets His Goats-- UPDATES

UPDATE: in addition to the two Jewish worshippers who were killed, four others are in very serious condition. 

UPDATE: We have learned the name of the attacker is 35-year-old Jihad al Shami. Two men and a woman in her 60s were also arrested in connection with the synagogue attack. He was a Syrian British national.

Several hours ago as of this writing, (9:31 a.m. local time) an anti-Semite in Manchester, England went on a stabbing spree at a Synagogue. At least 4 Jewish people were injured, according to authorities, but it appears the injuries are quite serious. 

The Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham, initially announced the attack and response.

At 9:38 am the alleged terrorist was shot and apparently killed--a fast response. 

This is the loser who attacked and was neutralized

People (yes, we Jews are people) are being treated at the scene.

It is believed that the idiot attacker arrived at the scene in an automobile and had a bomb. Currently the bomb disposal has arrived at the scene but this is an ongoing, developing situation. It is also believed the attacker may have an explosive device on his fat person.

Of course, this situation happened today, the start of Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. 

The same people who go around calling to "globalize the antifada" have put out a statement: 

You see, if you call for a holy war against the Jews, don't be surprised when attacks take place.

PM Kier Starmer wrote: "I'm appalled by the attack at a synagogue in Crumpsall. The fact that this has taken place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more horrific. My thoughts are with the loved ones of all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services and all the first responders.

Starmer was in Copenhagen, Denmark at the time is is on his way back to the UK. 

As I write this, two people have been confirmed dead.

There is supposed to be a mass protest against Jewish people who have the audacity of being Jewish but it isn't known if those a-holes plan to carry out the protest.
