Michigan B & B owners take down Norwegian flag after woke bashing

Greg and Kjersten Offenbecker run a bed and breakfast near Lansing, Michigan and flew a Norwegian flag adorning The Nordic Pineapple, their B & B outside in St. Johns.

The home is a Civil War-era house built by a Union brevet general in 1861 and spreads out almost 9,000 square feet. Kjersten's grandfather was born in Norway,  and she named the house in honor of her Norwegian heritage.

An idiot passerby repeatedly came along and thought the Norwegian flag was a Civil War Confederate flag, because, hey, idiots make mistakes, and this idiot saw an opportunity to virtue signal and tell everyone in the area that the B & B was flying a Confederate flag.

The Offenbeckers moved to the property in 2018 and nobody said "boo" about the flag until the left began canceling everything they could find that would make them feel superior to everyone whose lives they ruined. Now the couple have received "at least a dozen hateful emails" by cowards who dared not confront them face-to-face, which may have educated them as to what country the flag represents.

Initially, when the Offenbeckers overheard people talking about their bed and breakfast, they thought they were being complimented on it. "I was so happy at first," Kjersten told a local newspaper. Then she learned that they were gossiping about their flag. "Oh my gosh; this town thinks that we're hanging the Confederate flag," she said.

The Norwegian flag was adopted in 1821 and while the Confederate flag has a slightly similar design, the differences between them are obvious. Norway uses a blue Nordic cross outlined in white and laid over red. The Confederate "stars and bars" flag, uses a St. Andrew's cross adorned with stars, a design that originated in Scotland.

Kjersten said she can’t see the resemblance because she grew up with the Norwegian flag. “To me they are two distinct flags,” she explained. Her husband, Greg Offenbecker, was more blunt and expressed his frustration with people’s ignorance. “It bugs me as far as the stupidity of people,” he said. “Even if the flag is blowing in the wind or laying limp, there are no stars on it. They look nothing alike.”

Tell that to those ignorant people who have a problem with it.

As it turns out, the Offenbeckers removed both the Norwegian and American flags to satisfy their community of cancel culture nose pickers.

Intolerance Flagged

Bree Newsome, an intolerant left wing activist from Charlotte, N.C., climbed the flagpole of the South Carolina Statehouse and removed the Confederate flag because it evidently bothered her and she didn't care what others thought about it nor the legality of what she was doing. She was accompanied on this adventure by James Tyson, a heterosexual man who is tolerant of gay marriage, transgender people, lesbians, and Islam, but not of opinions that differ from his. Well, maybe except the opinions of Islam. Islam prescribes killing all the others previously mentioned--Tyson has nothing negative to say about the religion of peace because either he's too scared, too stupid, or c) all the above.

For now, the Confederate flag is protected by state law, but it seems that it's just a matter of time when there will be no state laws and the federal government will dictate what the laws are--that will be the day the left will burn not just a few, but all the American flags. Maybe they'll fly the rainbow flag of the "Zero Birth Movement."

The two intolerant leftists are being charged with defacing monuments on state Capitol grounds, a misdemeanor with a fine up to $5 thousand and 3 years in the slammer, but I suspect all will be forgiven if Obama steps in to save the cause.

Newsome, a black woman, said in an email statement at the time of her arrest, "We removed the flag today because we can't wait any longer. We can't continue like this another day. It's time for a new chapter where we are sincere about dismantling white supremacy and building toward true racial justice and equality."

When told that the level of racism has decreased since the 1960's but increased since we elected our so-called president, Barack Obama, she clucked her tongue, shook her head, flipped the bird, and said that facts don't matter. Okay, that didn't really happen, but it doesn't take much imagination to believe it did.

You have to admire people like Newsome, people who don't allow facts to sway their beliefs. Courage like that is only surpassed by men who have their men parts removed and made into woman parts. These are the truly courageous of our country.

Now I don't particularly like or dislike the Confederate flag; I'm not from the South so I suspect I would feel differently about it if I was born and raised there. But I favor a spirited debate over issues such as whether or not the flag should be removed from government areas. I even support Nikki Haley's stand on its removal from the SC statehouse.

But for now, we are a nation of laws and we need to uphold the law. Yet we actually have a strong contingency of brain-dead liberals who support the idea of incorporating sharia law into ours.

For now, the Confederate flag and same-sex marriage are the issues du jour--the media has made certain of that and have mostly chosen not to cover the IRS, Hillary emails, and cyber attack scandals.

I bet that day, the day when the media actually does its job and goes after the truth, will never come and the left will incorrectly see that as a victory.

I also bet that if Newsome fell from the flagpole and suffered serious injuries, she would sue the state.

SC to remove Confederate flag from its statehouse

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has caved to the demands, primarily from the left that the Confederate flag be removed from the statehouse. Somehow it seems that the GOP is being blamed for the flag and the racism that the left attributes to it. Democrats have been disowning their own history since they learned that it could get them elected as the country became less racist.

It's true that the mentally ill shooter, who killed 9 African-Americans in a Bible study class in Charleston, posed in several photos with the Confederate flag. Is that a reason to ban it? Hitler posed inside a Volkswagen--should we ban them from our streets? If it really would reduce racism in this country, then I fully support banning that flag.

But the worst part is how the GOP is afraid to attack the leftists who somehow make it sound like Republicans are all racists and they are the party of the "goody-goodies."


Gov. George Wallace of Alabama was clearly a racist and he was, wait for it . . . a Democrat. He posed with the Confederate flag and Democrats never made a fuss about it.

Clinton-Gore used it in their campaign.

To paraphrase Dr. Benjamin Carson, it doesn't matter if you have Confederate flags all over the place or in a museum, it isn't going to change the racist mentality in this country. In order to do that, you need to change the hearts of people in this country.

And the Al Sharptons of the world are doing everything they can to keep that from happening.
