Killer mother sentenced to only 10 years for murdering her infant

Former University of Kentucky cheerleader Laken Snelling was sentenced to a mere 10 years in prison on Friday after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter for killing her newborn son. 

Lexington police found the infant cold to the touch and wrapped in a trash bag inside her closet after roommates reported loud noises.

The baby was born alive. The Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death was asphyxiation. When Judge Diane Minnifield asked Snelling how she ended the infant's life, she replied, "I deprived him of oxygen." [Translation: she likely put her hands around his neck and choked him to death.]

Snelling, a senior at the time of the incident, told the court, "I was under a lot of emotional stress and my baby came unexpectedly. And instead of helping him, I ended his life and afterward I cleaned up and didn’t tell anyone."

It sounds as if she planned to dump him into the trash, hoping he, a human being, would be mistaken for garbage.

She also pleaded guilty to abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant. 

Investigators learned she deleted photos of her labor from her phone along with other evidence of the pregnancy. She claimed she remained awake for 30 minutes after the birth, then passed out on top of the baby. When she woke, she saw the infant "turning blue and purple."

Yeah, and if you believe that, you might believe the Brooklyn Bridge is a tunnel.

A living child outside the womb is not a medical complication or an emotional inconvenience. The infant required immediate care. Snelling provided a trash bag instead. The other charges reflect the deliberate effort to hide what happened after the fact. 

Ten years is the sentence that followed the guilty plea and this writer does not feel that it's long enough.

Another Knife-Wielding Maniac Charges Police In NYC, Because Progressive Utopia Is Going Great

Police had to confront and kill a knife-wielding maniac in New York City on Friday. This came just days after a different maniac went on a stabbing rampage, killing one person and wounding another in Times Square. 

City leaders remain shocked that this keeps happening while defunding the police is never off the table to leftists.

The man was first seen walking on the Brooklyn Bridge cables around 3:30 a.m. Officers scaled the bridge to talk him into coming down safely. That turned into a standoff. The man lunged at them and made threats.

“He stated, ‘I want to die, I want you to kill me, I have a bomb, you’re not going to make me do something bad to the cops,’” NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit (ESU) Assistant Chief Gerard Dowling, told reporters.

Officers spent nearly one hour asking the man to drop his weapon and come down. They tried to reason with a guy who said he wanted to die and might have a bomb. 

Then the knife-wielding man started coming down the cables. He lunged at one officer when he got within three feet. “At that point, a member of ESU who was on the roadbed of the bridge discharged his weapon one time, striking the man,” Dowling said.

The man was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead. All Brooklyn-bound lanes of the bridge shut down during peak Friday morning commute hours. 

This incident came after another knife attack in New York City on Monday. 

Erin Piacenti, a young wife and new mother who had just returned from maternity leave to her VP job at Bank of America, was stabbed and killed by a mentally disturbed woman. A handful of leftists cheered the murder because of the victim's bank position, just like they did when Luigi Mangione shot and killed Brian Thompson, a CEO for UnitedHealthcare.

Another unidentified man in the Piacenti incident was also injured and taken to the hospital. He was released on Tuesday. Police fatally shot the attacker, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, who was armed with two kitchen knives. Cisneros, from Queens, had previous outbursts tied to her mental state. She refused repeated commands to drop the knives when officers confronted her near an NYPD substation.

“During the encounter, she told the officers, ‘I’m not dropping anything. I would rather kill both of you.’ She repeated, ‘I will kill you,’” NYPD Chief, Jessica Tisch said during a press briefing.

Several weeks before that, there was another stabbing near Times Square. A man was stabbed in the head during an argument inside a subway station. Officials are sure the next round of sensitivity training and reduced police presence will fix everything.

The Non-negotiable Negotiation

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius called the U.S. nuclear negotiations with Iran a "sucker's deal," but it is becoming increasingly clear that Barack Hussein Obama is a willing sucker for everything Islam. Apparently, he will do political contortions with the Shi'ite nation, a nation who every morning calls out "Death to America," to leave his presidency with an Iran nuke deal as his legacy. 

As usual, it's about him, not us.

So what are the chances of Iran actually giving up on their uranium enrichment program?

You would have a better chance being struck by lightning at noon, on a sunny day, in an elevator.

The fact is, Iran was recently caught with a new super-speed centrifuge used to enrich uranium at a very fast rate. When they were caught, the excuse used by the negotiator for Iran simply said that he wasn't aware of the centrifuge. He also sold John Kerry a suspension bridge that goes from Brooklyn to Manhattan.

Mr. Kerry is very excited.

Taking an actual realistic approach, the French FM told Europe 1 radio "France wants an agreement, but a robust one that really guarantees that Iran can have access to civilian nuclear power, but not the atomic bomb." He added that "if the accord is not sufficiently solid then regional countries would say 'it's not serious enough, so we are also going to get the nuclear weapon,' and that would lead to an extremely dangerous nuclear proliferation."

Even the U.S. Congress wants a role in the Iran nuke deal. Over 360 members of both parties, that's about four-fifths, signed a letter telling Obama that they will not enact permanent sanctions relief for Iran unless they know that the terms of the deal will "foreclose any pathway to a bomb."

Nancy Pelosi whined that in order for Congress to know what's in the deal, Obama needs to make the deal first.

Peter Sellers lookalike, Eliot Engel (D-NY) drafted the letter which stated in part: 

Should an agreement with Iran be reached, Congress must be convinced that its terms foreclose any pathway to a bomb, and only then will Congress be able to consider permanent sanctions relief.

Engel is not asking for Congress to do anything before the deal is made, however, he simply wants Congress to vote on a deal after it's concluded.

The deal, which is being negotiated in Lausanne, Switzerland, was leaked and revealed that it would remove all restrictions on nuclear activities by Iran in just ten years. This was a claim made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu which Kerry and others danced around pretending Bibi was being a fear monger.

It now looks like Bibi has been totally vindicated and we look like yokels who fell off the turnip truck trying to negotiate with people who will not give in to our demands.

Originally, we asked Iran to limit their centrifuges to 1500. Last year we raised the limit to 4000. Now they probably have at least the 6000 needed to build a bomb, and with that new super-fast centrifuge, they may be a lot closer than we think.

I somehow believe that Obama is getting his advice from an Iranian. Oh wait, Valerie Jarrett is from Iran.
