Letitia James' Cop-Assaulting Fugitive Grand-Niece: The Family Business of Dodging the Law in a Subsidized Virginia Pad

Ah, the ironies of progressive privilege never cease to amuse . . . or outrage, depending on your tolerance for hypocrisy. New York's iron-fisted Attorney General Letitia James, who's spent years crusading against "systemic injustice" and turning her office into a personal vendetta machine against Donald Trump, now finds herself indicted for allegedly gaming the mortgage system to house a relative with a rap sheet longer than a CVS receipt. And get this: that relative, her grand-niece Nakia Thompson, isn't just any deadbeat like Hunter Biden, she's a self-avowed cop-hater who's been arrested twice for assaulting officers, all while crashing rent-free (or so she claims) in one of James' Virginia properties. 

Court docs don't lie, guys, but apparently James' conscience might.

Let's rewind to the prologue of this family saga, because Thompson's North Carolina escapades read like a greatest-hits album of bad decisions. 

Back in 2011, in Winston-Salem, she was pinched for "malicious conduct by a prisoner," a felony that sounds like it belongs in a prison-yard brawl scene from Oz. Tacked on were charges of assault on a government official and resisting a public officer, because nothing says "progressive values" like taking swings at cops. 

Thompson pled down that year, copping to the assault and resisting raps, which landed her merely 60 days behind bars. The malicious conduct felony was dropped, naturally. But in 2006, three counts of assault on a government official, plus a misdemeanor probation violation and a larceny charge. Then 2008 brought a bond forfeiture arrest. And don't forget the 2011 traffic citations for driving without a license and a wonky plate. she no-showed the hearing, naturally, leading to a 2019 disposition chat. 

Authorities confirm she's now a full-fledged "fugitive" for absconding parole, hightailing it to Virginia with her three kids after blowing off supervision. As a North Carolina Department of Corrections spokesperson told The New York Post: "Ms. Thompson is listed as an absconder for willfully avoiding supervision by her probation officer.” They added, "She was sentenced to probation for misdemeanor convictions for assault and battery and trespassing. Due to the level of the offenses, the district attorney has designated this case non-extraditable. She faces arrest if located in North Carolina, and possible activation by the court of the suspended sentence."

Fast-forward to the Virginia chapter, where Thompson's been squatting since 2020 in a Norfolk house owned by none other than "No One's Above the Law" Aunt Letitia, the same pad now starring in James' federal indictment for bank fraud. Federal prosecutors, led by U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan in the Eastern District of Virginia, say James lied on her mortgage app, calling it a "second home" she wouldn't rent out to snag a sweet rate. 

But oh, the plot thickens: She allegedly had paying tenants living there, which could net her up to 60 years if convicted on the bank fraud and false statements counts. Thompson herself spilled to a federal grand jury that she's been bunking there with the kids, rent-free. Former newspaper, The New York Times quoted sources close to James claiming she crashes there for "extended periods" herself, sure, because nothing screams "second home, not investment property" like family fugitives and surprise sleepovers.

Virginia has been no picnic for Thompson, either; it's more like a sequel nobody asked for. That same 2020, she pled guilty to petit and grand larceny, both felonies, and got two years' probation plus a $2,020 bill. A bunch of misdemeanors got tossed, along with the felony possession of burglary tools charge (because who needs those in the family photo album?). 

And her driving record? A nine-ticket hall of fame, capped by this summer's July speed-demon special: Four citations in one day, including 80 mph in a 55 zone and an improper highway stop. The year prior she was handed another 80-in-55 ticket, plus a summons for improper child restraint; she was found guilty in absentia and dinged $50. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor? Absolutely. 

It's like she treats traffic laws as optional, much like her parole terms.

James, ever the victim in her own narrative, is denying everything, faster than a Clinton aide at a deposition. Her lawyer branded the charges "tremendous breaches of the public’s trust." At a rally with anti-Semitic socialist NYC mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani, James fired back, framing it all as a Trump-era hit job: "We see powerful voices trying to silence truth and punish dissent and weaponize justice for political gain." Pot, meet kettle, James has built her career on exactly that playbook, from endless Trump probes to her real-estate shenanigans. If she's so keen on "weaponizing justice," maybe start with the family fugitive crashing in her subsidized Virginia crash pad. 

Or is that just "dissent" we need to tolerate?

In the end, this isn't just a little mortgage mix-up; it's a masterclass in the elite left's two-tiered justice system. James prosecutes the little guy for far less while her own kin plays hopscotch across state lines, assaulting cops and racking up felonies. 

If conviction sticks, those 60 years might feel like poetic justice. Stay tuned, because in Letitia's world, the only thing more elastic than her ethics is her definition of "second home."
