Leftists don't know difference between free speech and company ownership

A headline in an obvious leftist publication known as Futurism reads: "Free Speech Champion Elon Musk Fires Employees for Criticizing Him." The writer refers to the owner of SpaceX and new owner of Twitter as a "free speech absolutist and criticizes him for firing several of his employees at SpaceX where he is CEO after they circulated an open letter criticizing his behavior, The New York Times reports.

The writer went on to say that Musk has "a very long history of retaliating against those who criticize him--despite his repeated attempts to paint himself as the ultimate champion of "free speech."

Here is an exercise we can try; it's known as 'Shoe On Other Foot":
if a staff member in the Biden administration was to say that they firmly believe Biden appears to have a serious case of senile dementia and now has the cognitive capacity of a blowfish, or that his wife, Doctor Jill Biden, seems too dumb to be a real doctor, would the writer of the Futurism piece say that this person should not be fired? And even more importantly, would Joe Biden be justified in firing that staff member?
Another post, this time from conservative outlet The Daily Wire, had the headline: "Get Woke, Go Broke: SpaceX Fires Employees Who Wrote A Letter Blasting Elon Musk's 'Behavior' And 'Values.'" It says the open letter they wrote (mentioned above) criticized Musk for his “behavior in the public sphere.” Specifically, “Elon’s behavior in the public sphere is a frequent source of distraction and embarrassment for us, particularly in recent weeks. As our CEO and most prominent spokesperson, Elon is seen as the face of SpaceX--every tweet that Elon sends is a de facto public statement by the company."

Shoe On Other Foot:
"Joe's behavior in the public sphere is a frequent source of distraction and embarrassment for us, particularly since he became President. As our nation's leader and most prominent spokesperson, Joe is seen as the face of America--every time he speaks, trips up the staircase on Air Force One, or has an incontinence accident in front of a sitting Pope, Joe sends a de facto public statement by the Democratic Party."
The aforementioned letter was first obtained by The Verge. The writer[s] said that “it is critical to make clear to our teams and to our potential talent pool that his messaging does not reflect our work, our mission, or our values,” exhorting SpaceX to “swiftly and explicitly separate itself from Elon’s personal brand.”

Those who were embarrassed by Elon Musk and wrote the letter on Wednesday, were given the opportunity to find employment at a company more in line with their ideology on Thursday--they were summarily terminated, according to The Times on the basis of three employees confirming the information and an email from SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell, a perfect name for a person responsible for a rocket launch.

Nobody put a gun to the employees' heads forcing them to stay on with a company whose creator, the richest man on the planet. But they would want to put a gun to their fellow employees and have them agree with their feelings about Musk.

“The letter, solicitations and general process made employees feel uncomfortable, intimidated and bullied, and/or angry because the letter pressured them to sign onto something that did not reflect their views,” Shotwell wrote. “We have too much critical work to accomplish and no need for this kind of overreaching activism.”

The incident occurred weeks after a flight attendant accused Musk of exposing himself to her several years ago, touching her, and offering to buy her a horse in exchange for an erotic massage. Like Musk, Shotwell dismissed the allegations to the company mainly because the coincidence to Elon's intended purchase of Twitter was scaring the crap out of people on the Left who believe that free speech is owned by them and all the rest they don't like is hate speech--they apparently wanted to discredit and cancel him, but they failed.

“Personally, I believe the allegations to be false; not because I work for Elon, but because I have worked closely with him for 20 years and never seen nor heard anything resembling these allegations,” Ms. Shotwell said.

Not ironically, the open letter went public when Elon announced that he cast his ballot for Mayra Flores,
the first Mexican-American running for Congress who won a district that had remained Democratic for the past 150 years. Elon announced that he would vote Republican in this year's midterm elections and the left was experiencing the vapors, especially when Musk eluded to the idea that he would vote for "DeSantis" if he won the GOP nod for POTUS.

He's the boss. When you attack the boss, especially on an emotional level that also detracts from his company, you don't deserve to have him pay you a salary.
