Trump and Choi |
He kicked their symbolic butts with words, now he can kick them with his fists of blazing fury. Former President Donald Trump has joined the Pope in receiving one of the highest honors that can be presented by Koreans: the 9th-degree blackbelt in TaeKwonDo.
The presenters of the belt made a special robe for Trump to wear at the presentation and you can see by the big guy's face that he enjoyed every minute of the affair. [Perhaps I should have chosen a better word.]
The Donald is the first and only American president to receive such a high honor. It was presented by the head of South Korea's Kukkiwon TaeKwonDo organization who flew to Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
The U.S.-based TaeKwonDo GrandMaster Eungil Choi (to left of Trump in photo) helped organize the presentation. Choi is also a ninth degree blackbelt but Trump clearly has the weight advantage, except the award is honorary and it's doubtful Trump could go even one round against Choi.
TaeKwonDo is to South Korea as football is to the United States, only less dangerous. It is an Olympic sport as well and is widely practiced in both North and South Korea, including the military. This is the one thing that both Koreas have in common.

The South Korea-based Kukkiwon TaeKwonDo headquarters has been instrumental in arranging past visits to the U.S. which includes demonstrations by the North Korean team.
The last major international figure to be awarded a very high-ranking honorary blackbelt was the Pope, who received a tenth degree blackbelt in 2017 and threatened to kick Trump's proverbial butt by one degree. It is rumored that Trump has now accepted the challenge.
Imagine what that would look like.
