Forget how the Left hawks communist countries like Cuba and brag, like Michael Moore did and made an entire movie about, health care there. It's covid, they tell us--that's what the protest is all about. In truth, Cuban health care has sucked and covid vaccinations are merely a reflection of this problem.
And those cries of "freedom!" "liberty," actually mean "covid!" and "vaccines" in Espanol, when spoken by Cubans. It's covid, not actual freedom and liberty--they're speaking Spanish. Covid.
This has been the largest demonstration in Cuba since the 1959 revolution and people are literally risking their lives to demonstrate, just as they have risked their lives trying to float to Florida on makeshift rafts, floating their own cars, or trying to use buoys to get to the freest country on the planet.
Some of the videos posted online were circulated on Sunday by Cuba's pro-freedom protesters as they took to the streets literally crying out for freedom from their communist oppressors. Some of the videos were also promoted by U.S. pro-freedom politicians. They show the protesters storming the local communist party office and flipping over a police vehicle.
In Havana, the crowd got heated up outside the Communist Party's headquarters. But our own leftist press is trying to gaslight us into believing it's all about covid.
Cubans took to the street in rarely seen demonstrations to protest the impoverished conditions of the island, their lack of freedom under the far-left Marxist regime, and did so while chanting “Liberty” and “Freedom” and waving an American flag. [H/T The Daily Wire]
Despite this, Julie Chung, Acting Assistant Secretary for U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, insisted that the protests were all about the covid, all about the covid-don't believe your lying eyes. Part of the reason the administration is misdirecting the dialog is because they are clueless on how to handle the situation.
It wasn’t long before the communist government began cracking down on the protesters, which it sees as a threat to its very existence.
Even the left-loving Washington Post reported:
José Miguel Vivanco, director of Human Rights Watch’s Americas division, said his group had received reports that at least 20 people had been arrested. He added that the organization had received reports of violence being used by Cuban forces, a claim echoed by social media users sharing videos of wounded protesters.
“This is pretty massive,” Vivanco said. “My sense is that this is a combination of social unrest based on a lack of freedoms, and covid, and economic conditions. The lack of access to electricity. The blackouts. … People are screaming for freedom.”
This kind of courage & bravery needs to be shared with the whole world#SOSCuba #PatriaYVida

“Peaceful protests are growing in #Cuba as the Cuban people exercise their right to peaceful assembly to express concern about rising COVID cases/deaths & medicine shortages,” Chung tweeted. “We commend the numerous efforts of the Cuban people mobilizing donations to help neighbors in need.”
Bull crap. The Cuban people do not, I repeat, do not have the right to peaceful assembly. That's just a damn lie and they know it. The protesters were protesting about the communist government that has had them under their thumb for over 60 years.
And it didn't take long before the communist Cuban government began going after the protesters.

Yes, communism in action; or should I say inaction?
“As demonstrators sought to broadcast the protest live with their cellphones through social media, Cuba’s authorities cut internet service on multiple occasions on Sunday,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “Kentik, a U.S.-based network monitoring company, reported countrywide internet outages.”
The New York Times reported that numerous videos that were posted online that showed the protests had “suddenly disappeared.” “The people are dying of hunger!” one woman shouted during a protest highlighted by The Times, “Our children are dying of hunger!” Other chants included “We want freedom” and “We want vaccines.”

Of course covid is an issue, but it's an issue caused by the incompetence of a communist government more interested in self-preservation than preserving the lives of its people.
Funny how freedom fighters in Hong Kong and even Iran, use the American flag as a symbol of the freedom and liberty they crave, while the hard-Left in the U.S. burn the flag because they have the freedom to do so, and the ignorance to be clueless of what it stands for.
Wouldn't it be great if those who burn the flag are willing to trade places with foreign freedom fighters who revere what it stands for? Of course, that will never happen, but it makes for a great "happy place" when you need to go there.
