NJ state Sen. Sandra Cunningham charged with drunk driving

New Jersey senator Sandra Cunningham (D-Jersey City, NJ) was driving drunk around 9:30 in the morning on March 4th, in Jersey City and is charged with a DWI after crashing into two parked cars she mistook for snowdrifts. She also mistook the cops for the Village People, but that's another story.

“I was coming down the street when I was about to make a turn, and instead turned into a snowbank,” she told police.

She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, cops said.

Her blood-alcohol levels were screened but are not yet known, according to the police report.

Her car was impounded, and former Gov. Jim McGreevey told Northjersey.com that he picked Cunningham up from the courthouse later in the day as she was sobering up from a morning bender.

Cunningham could not be reached for comment as she was likely sleeping it off.

Sharon E. Har

This latest DWI comes soon after another prominent state Democrat lawmaker/breaker was driving drunk and got busted. That would be Hawaii state Rep. Sharon Har — who ironically has pushed for tougher drunk-driving penalties. Har was busted last month for allegedly driving under the influence.

So, do as they say, not as they do and you can avoid the drunk tank.
