Brooklyn assemblywoman resigns before fraud trial

Albany -- Pamela Harris, a Brooklyn assemblywoman, [no relation to Kamala Harris] resigned on Monday.

Harris, a Democrat, was indicted in January on a boatload of fraud and corruption charges along with multiple counts of wire and bankruptcy fraud and making false statements, witness tampering and conspiracy.

She announced her resignation in a letter to Carl E. Heastie, the Bronx Democrat and speaker of the Assembly [of crooked liberals]. The letter said that "recent events interfere with my ability to continue to effectively represent my constituents."

Yes, it's difficult representing your constituents from the slammer.

The dishonorable Ms Harris has been accused of a potpourri of schemes including falsely claiming to have been displaced from her Coney Island home by damage inflicted by Hurricane Sandy. She pocketed $25,000 in federal disaster funds for that one.

She is also accused of siphoning money from a nonprofit organization she ran, Coney Island Generation Gap, to pay personal expenses that included her mortgage and shopping trips to Victoria's Secret. She pleaded not guilty and refused to drop her drawers to see a pair in her latest "Dream Angel" collection.

She pleaded not guilty.

Her lawyer, Jerry H. Goldfeder [yes, she hired a smart Jewish lawyer] said that Ms. Harris had served through recent state budget process and had "resigned to fully address her pending case."

If she's anything like Hillary Clinton, she walk free and blame Trump.

Harris, a retired corrections officer [aka: a "screw"] is expected go to trial in July.
