If all goes well for the LGBT folks, they may be able to fight alongside men and women who identify themselves as men and women, respectively, as the Pentagon will "likely" repeal its ban on transgender service members next month, and possibly as soon as next week.
The military will hopefully become an experimental laboratory for how folks identify themselves and how they will get along with their "fellow" comrades on the battlefield. It will no longer matter whether or not we win or lose in battle, but in how we play the game.
Deputy Defense Secretary Bob Wolk would sign off on the plan and Ash Carter would give his final approval before the July 4th weekend.
Long lines of LGBT folks are anticipated to form by recruiting stations where they will sign up, fall in and march to the beat of their own drum. They will be the Army's new "Rainbow Division" whose nickname will be "The Fightin' People Whose Gender is What They Say It Is In Spite of their Chromosomes."
The following is a list of 58 gender options in alphabetical order, identified by ABC News:
Agender, Androgyne, Androgynous, Bigender, Cis, Cisgender, Cis Female, Cis Male, Cis Man, Cis Woman, Cisgender Female, Cisgender Male, Cisgender Man, Cisgender Woman, Female to Male, FTM, Gender Fluid, Gender Nonconforming, Gender Questioning, Gender Variant, Gender Queer, Intersex, Male to Female, MTF, Neither, Neutrois, Non-Binary, Other, Pangender, Trans, Trans*, Trans Female, Trans Male, Trans* Male, Trans Man, Trans* Man, Trans Person, Trans* Person, Trans Woman, Trans* Woman, Transfeminine, Transgender, Transgender Female, Transgender Male, Transgender Man, Transgender Person, Transgender Woman, Transmasculine, Transsexual, Transsexual Female, Transsexual Male, Transsexual Man, Transsexual Person, Transsexual Woman, Two-Spirit.
That's a mouthful of gender identities.
I predict that, in the future, colleges and universities will offer 4 year degrees for each category and students will still graduate without knowing math, who George Washington was, nor who we fought in the Revolutionary War.
I really have no qualms about LGBT folks, but I wonder if this is going to affect the morale or create unforeseen problems. I hope it doesn't.
