Stefanik says Cuomo implicated in "criminal scandal" over COVID nursing home deaths

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said that Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) was implicated in a "criminal corruption scandal" regarding New York's reported undercounting of coronavirus deaths in the state's nursing homes.

Stefanik spoke on Fox News' "The Story" with Martha MacCallum saying that New York lawmakers must hold Cuomo accountable for the state's serious underreporting of their death count in nursing homes.

Never admitting blame or responsibility when he has screwed the pooch, Cuomo defended his policy by insisting he followed federal guidelines at the time. If that was true, then why were other states not doing what Cuomo mandated: requiring nursing homes to take back COVID-positive patients from hospitals?

The fact is, the guidelines specifically required that nursing homes meet strict standards and have special equipment before being allowed to take back COVID residents. Cuomo failed to take the guidelines seriously.

"This is the governor who has pointed fingers at everyone. He's pointed fingers at President Trump. He's pointed fingers at the seniors themselves, at the nursing homes, basically blaming everyone but himself," Stefanik said.

Cuomo is a garbage governor, a liar and an incompetent leader, in the opinion of many who get their news from more than leftist sources.

Stefanik went after the media and CNN in particular for its coverage of the failed governor, whose brother Chris "Fredo" Cuomo is a primetime anchor of a far-left show. On it, Fredo did an insensitive comedy act with his brother in the middle of the pandemic.

"It is a disgrace that CNN allows Chris Cuomo to just invite his brother and do those ridiculous fawning interviews. It’s an embarrassment now to the media," she said, not realizing that for CNN to be embarrassed, they need to have a modicum of self-awareness.

Stefanik said in the interview:
"This is the governor who has pointed fingers at everyone. He's pointed fingers at President Trump. He's pointed fingers at the seniors themselves, at the nursing homes, basically blaming everyone but himself. In terms of following federal guidance, it is very clear that Governor Cuomo made the decision to put forth his executive order on March 25 requiring nursing homes to accept positive COVID patients, regardless of their ability to isolate those patients and have proper PPE ...
"My thoughts are this governor has avoided the truth for months and months and months. The reason why this is a criminal corruption scandal and not just a nursing home scandal is that they have known for months what the true count of deaths in nursing homes [was], whether it was in a hospital from a nursing home, or an individual who passed away in the nursing home and they have withheld that from the public ...There needs to be subpoenas issued immediately. Both Democrats and Republicans in the State Senate and State Assembly have agreed to that ..."

Let's not forget how Cuomo and New Jersey's Governor Murphy both complimented then President Trump for the federal assistance they received from his administration. New York, for example, received an entire hospital ship and respirators that ended up in excess or was underused by Cuomo.

But who are we kidding? These people are rarely held accountable for what should be described as criminal behavior.

Calif. nursing home inspectors weren't being tested for China Virus

Nursing home inspectors in Soviet Kalifornia, were not taking mandatory Chinese Communist Wuhan Coronavirus testing as part of their job, in spite of the lockdowns and myriad nursing home deaths, or so claims a crack team of investigators for The Los Angeles Times.

The newspaper reports that about 500 nursing home inspectors whose job it is to ensure state compliance with infection control regulations covered the state's 1,200 skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), which house residents who are medically fragile and require ongoing nursing intervention beyond that of a simple health care facility (HRF). For example, in an HRF, a resident can toilet him- or herself, can eat without assistance, and may only need assistance with medication compliance and the like. In an SNF, the residents are more like patients than people simply living there and require a great deal more help in activities of daily living.

Some of the SNFs that were inspected were visited on more than one occasion.

The investigation was published Friday morning after the outlet conducted interviews with eight “registered nurses working as inspectors for the Kalifornia Department of Public Health — all of whom spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation."

So there's even a cancel culture in the health care industry.

The Times reported that one inspector said nursing home administrators were “absolutely, visibly shocked” they weren’t required to be tested, and believes those places “only let us in because we’re the state; they’re scared to say no.”

Experts and nursing home advocates have appeared confused by the state’s original testing policy, which makes as much sense as believing that it's okay for the left to protest "systemic racism" in enormous crowds, but going to church will get you killed.

Health care policy professor David Grabowski, of Harvard Medical School, told the LA Times: “It makes basically no sense that we’ve locked these facilities down since March, keeping families out, only to learn inspectors have been moving from facility to facility without being tested.”

After the investigation was published, Kalifornia's useless Governor Gavin Newsom (D) said during a press conference that the coronavirus testing policy for inspectors had now changed, but did not indicate as of when.
The Cuomo bros yuck it up while over
6,300 nursing home residents died
“We’re raising our standards. We’re requiring for every sector that an inspector is inspecting that they meet the same criteria that’s established within that sector,” joked Newsom. “So that has been changed.”

That's like sneezing and then covering your mouth.

“It is — forgive me — in the lexicon of government, a meet-and-confer issue with our bargaining units, but we will raise that standard,” the Ken Doll governor added. ["However, I'm not worried; my job is safe because the media will have my back," he forgot to add.]

But according to The Times,  “none of the inspectors” they spoke to “said they had been interviewed by a contact tracer since the beginning of the pandemic.”

In late June, The New York Times, a former newspaper, reported that over 40% of coronavirus deaths across the country were linked to nursing homes, either residents or workers. In Kalifornia, the share of deaths is 45%. Many of these deaths were caused by New York's incompetent Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) who mandated that COVID patients sent to the hospital be returned to their respective nursing homes, which obviously infected and eventually killed their roommates.

But no worries, Andy and Gavin, the media has your backs.

Cuomo tries to cover his butt over Covid deaths in nursing homes

The slightly less dumber brother of the Cuomo dynamic duo, Andrew, can brag that his state of which he governs, is number one in the nation for Chinese Communist Wuhan coronavirus deaths, and a hugely disproportionate number of those deaths are from nursing home residents. Why? Because Cuomo ordered all nursing home residents who were hospitalized for the virus to be returned to their respective nursing home.

Now the weasel is saying that "nobody" should be prosecuted over coronavirus deaths, including nursing homes, and said that older people were "always going to die from this virus."

Seriously, the guys is a total scumcrumpet.

Cuomo has made almost daily appearances on national television to pontificate his thoughts and plans in dealing with the pandemic. In addition, he has been interviewed by Chris, his even less intelligent brother who defied his 14 day quarantine when and got the virus, and who got a gig on CNN because his father was Mario Cuomo [which is how Andrew became governor]. The two idiots joke and chide each other in a cutesy brotherly banter, and it has become obvious to the public that Andrew is thinking about a presidential run in the future as he does his best to appear as if he knows what he's doing.

Cuomo has come under fire for his policy enacted March 25 forcing nursing homes to take in COVID-19 positive patients, which has only recently been reversed without an apology for the deaths he has caused.

One reporter at an Albany press conference on Sunday asked Cuomo what he had to say to families who had lost loved ones in nursing homes to coronavirus. “They’re looking for accountability and they feel that they were failed, what’s the comment to that?"

The useless politician noted that 139 people had died in New York state from the virus on Saturday. “How do we get justice for those families? Who can we prosecute for those deaths? Nobody. Mother Nature, God, where did this virus come from? People are going to die by this virus, that is the truth.”

Especially the elderly who are placed among others with the virus. You dolt!

“Older people, vulnerable people, are going to die from this virus,” Cuomo added annoyingly through his nose. “That is going to happen despite whatever you do, with all our progress as a society, we can't keep everyone alive. Older people are more vulnerable. That is a fact that is not going to change.”

Uh, is it really a fact that the nursing home deaths couldn't be prevented in spite of other states having a significantly lower death rate because they weren't co-mingling the sick with the rest of the nursing home population? Is it a fact that your policy was responsible for those deaths?

Cuomo pretends to know what he's talking about but not a shred of it is based in real fact. He's a poseur and a fraud.

More than 4,800 people died from COVID-19 in nursing homes in New York from March 1 to May 1, according to a count by the governor’s office. Roughly 25 percent of all deaths in the state occurred in nursing homes because of this schmuck's mindless policy based on his need for power.

The reporter pressed Cuomo about his nursing home policy once again: “Some think that the mandates that are currently in place, if they were in place from the get-go, they feel that their loved ones might still be here.” [He was referring to the new change in policy where he kept the sick elderly away from the non- infected residents in nursing homes.]

“People rationalize death in different ways. I don't think there is any logical rationale to say they would be alive today,” the governor said in his anemic defense that ironically was totally devoid of logic.

On May 10, Cuomo revealed a requirement for hospital patients to test negative for coronavirus before being discharged to nursing homes, effectively reversing his previous policy. He also announced a policy requiring all New York nursing homes and adult care facilities to test staff members for COVID-19 twice a week and report positive cases to the state.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), is demanding a federal probe into Cuomo's deadly policy.

"Today I joined my [New York GOP] colleagues in the House to call for a federal investigation of Cuomo's failed nursing home policies," Stefanik tweeted Friday. "NOW they admit they unethically changed the way they report nursing home deaths. An INEXCUSABLE tragedy for NY -- NEED ANSWERS."

Andrew Cuomo will still be lauded by the leftist, Democratic media as some kind of hero, when, in fact, he's a buffoon.

New York comes up with an additional 1,700 nursing home deaths

New York now reports that over 1.700 undisclosed COVID-19 deaths occurred in nursing homes, mostly due to the fact that NY Gov. Andrew "I'm Single Now" Cuomo had coronavirus elderly return to their nursing homes and senior living/adult care facilities in the midst of the pandemic. Now the state faces scrutiny over how it failed to protect our most vulnerable.

No less than 4,813 people have died from Chinese Communist Wuhan Wet Market Coronavirus in the state's nursing homes since March 1, according to a tally released by the incompetent Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration late Monday. For the first time the data includes people believed to have been killed by the coronavirus before their diagnoses could be confirmed by a lab test.

The precise number of nursing home residents who died is unclear despite New York's latest disclosure,  as the list doesn’t include nursing home residents who were transferred to hospitals before dying.

In the above April 17, 2020 photo, a patient is loaded into an ambulance by emergency medical workers outside Cobble Hill Health Center, near Court Street in Brooklyn, New York.

The revised list shows that 22 nursing homes, mostly in New York City and Long Island, have reported at least 40 deaths.

Parker Jewish Institute in Queens and Isabella Geriatric Center — one of New York City’s largest nursing homes with 705 beds — have reported the highest number of deaths: 71 and 64, respectively.

Audrey Waters, a spokeswoman for Isabella Geriatric Center, wrote in an email, "Isabella, like all other nursing homes in New York City, initially had limited access to widespread and consistent in-house testing to quickly diagnose our residents and staff. This hampered our ability to identify those who were infected and asymptomatic, despite our efforts to swiftly separate anyone who presented symptoms.”

In many cases, the state’s new figures reveal many more deaths than previously reported at nursing homes: Isabella Geriatric Center had 13 COVID-19 deaths reported as of May 1, and now reports the deaths of 21 patients who were confirmed to have COVID-19 along with 43 deaths of residents presumed to have COVID-19. And Ozanam Hall of Queens now is reporting a total of 53 deaths, up from just 10.

Several veterans homes have been hard-hit by the virus:  The Long Island State Veterans Home reported 53 deaths, including 48 confirmed and five presumed COVID-19 deaths. The New York State Veterans Home at St. Albans in Queens has reported 33 deaths while New York State Veterans Home at Montrose in Westchester says 22 residents have died.

Cuomo promised on March 2, when only a handful of coronavirus cases had been reported in New York, to make a “special effort” for nursing homes and congregate homes housing senior citizens. He directed nursing homes to screen visitors and consider modifying visiting hours on March 6, which makes no sense at all because the viruses don't own wristwatches.

But Cuomo and his administration screwed up in overseeing and supporting New York’s overwhelmed, state-regulated nursing homes as many have struggled to treat COVID-19 patients or amass enough personal protective gear or ensure adequate staffing.

Advocacy groups for the elderly and family members of nursing home residents have called for greater transparency over COVID-19 cases at each state-regulated nursing home and criticized an April 1 state law granting some immunity to hospitals and nursing homes from civil and criminal liability to protect the administration's incompetency.

They also questioned the state’s biggest screw up by a March 25 policy that says “no resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to a nursing home solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19."

Brilliant.

The governor and his incompetent administration defended that policy as ensuring nursing home residents that they aren’t left lingering in hospitals to be treated, or have nowhere else to go to die.

Cuomo’s spokesperson tweeted Monday that the policy follows federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidance [they are the government and they're here to help].

However, the federal guidance says only that a nursing home “can accept a resident diagnosed with COVID-19” so long as the nursing home can follow federal guidance on transmission precautions.

This obviously wasn't thought through very well as the spread within nursing homes was faster than a speeding bullet. But Cuomo keeps making myriad TV appearances in the hope that he will finally be considered a presidential candidate in the future.
