Houston Rockets' Kevin Porter Jr. alleged to have fractured girlfriend's vertebra: he's on %75K bail

Basketball player Kevin Porter Jr. allegedly provided a broken vertebra in his girlfriend's neck after he was said to relentlessly beat and choked her at their Manhattan hotel, prosecutors said Tuesday. Porter, 23, was released on $75,000 bail.

The young man is accused of repeatedly punching Kysre Gondrezick, 26, in the face and choking her to the point at which she couldn't breathe. The incident took place in their room at the Millennium Hilton New York Hotel in Midtown early Monday, so states the criminal complaint.

The savage beating of the young woman by Porter, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall, only ended when Gondrezick, a former WNBA player, ran out of the room and was found bloodied and bruised by hotel employees in the hallway, prosecutors said during Porter's arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court. 

The basket baller was arrested at about 6.30 a.m. Monday and charged with assault and strangulation after cops received a 911 call about the alleged attack.

His girlfriend told police that Porter had struck her with a closed fist multiple times — leaving her with an inches-long gash above her right eye, prosecutors said. He next "forcefully" squeezed her neck with his big hands, “causing her to experience difficulty breathing, redness and bruising to her neck, and substantial pain,” the complaint charges.

After being taken to NYU Langone Medical Center, doctors confirmed that Gondrezick — who previously played for the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky — had suffered a fractured vertebra in her neck, the filing said.

It looks as if Porter may be in trouble.

This wasn't Porter's first incident however. Prosecutors asked that Porter's bail be set at $100,000 during the arraignment, due to his history of alleged abuse against Gondrezick. In one incident it is alleged that Porter rammed his car into hers, but in spite of that, she stayed with him and continued to take his alleged abuse.

Assistant District Attorney Mirah Curzer had also told the court that Porter is known to have access to multiple firearms, and was arrested out of state in 2020 on gun charges, which were later dropped because he is famous and has a decent outside shot.

Judge Michael Ryan, however, instead set the NBA star’s bail at $75,000 and granted a full temporary restraining order against him.

Porter is due back in court on Oct. 16.

Police sources have said the alleged assault on Gondrezick took place after the couple had gone out Sunday night and later returned to the hotel.  

Gondrezick was asleep when her NBA beau allegedly started beating her, the sources added, possibly due to snoring.

“We are aware of the reports regarding Kevin Porter Jr.,” an NBA spokesperson told The Post in the wake of his arrest. “The league office is in contact with the Houston Rockets and in the process of gathering more information.”

Meanwhile, Gondrezick’s sister reportedly took to her Instagram Stories to warn Porter to “count [his] days” after he was slapped with the charges, according to Clutch Points.

“@kevinporterjr if you think you gone touch my sister & not get touched,” Kalabrya Haskins wrote in a since-expired post. “Count ya f—ing days. Better hope and pray you’ll be able to ever walk again let alone dribble.

“You may have gotten away with this s–t in the past cause yo mama ain’t beat ya a–, but we spank lil punk a– painting nail sissy b—-es like you every day. Don’t show up to that crib. We gone do it to you. Lil b—h.”

This veiled threat did not seem to weigh heavily upon the shoulders of the NBA basketball shooter.

Porter has a history of outbursts and was shipped from Cleveland to Houston in January 2021 after getting into a screaming match and tossing food when his locker was moved to a wall with younger players, The Athletic reported at the time.

In January 2022, he had to be separated from then-Houston assistant coach John Lucas during a halftime exchange that saw Porter lose his temper and throw an object, The Athletic reported.

So now we wait the fate of the woman-beater.

Dennis Rodman not going to help Brittney Griner's release from Russian prison

Former NBA basketball player Dennis Rodman had been planning to go to Russia in an effort to free WNBA basketball player Brittney Griner from a Russian prison after being found guilty of drug possession. He told the public last week that he was all set to go there but the U.S. government publicly discouraged his plan. Now he appears to have changed his mind and will not be going to Russia.

Griner has been sentenced to nine years in early August for bringing cannabis oil vape cartridges into Russia in February. On Saturday, Rodman told NBC News that he planned to go there to help Griner.

“I got permission to go to Russia to help that girl,” Rodman said Saturday. “I’m trying to go this week.”

However, government officials the State Department immediately indicated they thought Rodman’s plan was garbage and told the former dribbler and shooter of basketballs that if he had gone, he would not be acting in any official capacity for the United States.

“He would not be traveling on behalf of the U.S. government,” Ned Price, the first openly gay, married to a dude State Department spokesman, told ABC News.

“We believe that anything other than negotiating further through the established channel is likely to complicate and hinder those release efforts,” Price added.

Rodman, in the midst of scrutiny over his comments, told ABC News on Monday that he now has no plans to travel to Russia, the network reported.

The State Department also issued a travel advisory to discourage all Americans from visiting Russia.

“Do not travel to Russia due to the unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces, the potential for harassment against U.S. citizens by Russian government security officials, the singling out of U.S. citizens in Russia by Russian government security officials including for detention, the arbitrary enforcement of local law, limited flights into and out of Russia, the Embassy’s limited ability to assist U.S. citizens in Russia, COVID-19-related restrictions, and terrorism.

“U.S. citizens residing or traveling in Russia should depart Russia immediately. Exercise increased caution due to wrongful detention,” the advisory outlined.

However, even though the advisory is in place, Rodman does not need special permission from the U.S. to go to Russia. He just would have needed a visa from Moscow.

Rodman has a history of informal diplomacy with international leaders who have a strained relationship with the United States. Over the past 10 years, the former NBA star has had a relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and has visited the country multiple times.

And while he might be strange in so many ways, he would still make a better president than Joe Biden, and unlike Brittney Griner, he never "took a knee" during the national anthem.

Brittney Griner suddenly stands for America

Brittney Griner returned to a Russian courtroom Tuesday and her defense team is claiming she uses marijuana to treat pain. She was caught with marijuana vape cartridge with CBD oils in it at a Moscow airport in February and has since been languishing in a Russian prison. She pleaded guilty to the drug possession charge but said she didn't intentionally break Russia's anti-drug laws. She faces up to ten years in prison.

Griner is one of the tallest WNBA basketball players, standing at 6 feet 9 inches tall.

Griner came to the forefront of public attention in 2020, after she voiced her opposition to the playing of the National Anthem before WNBA games. She and many of her teammates also began kneeling while it was played because Colin Kaepernick, a mediocre NFL football player used the same ploy to try boosting his career.

But Griner also has a spotty past. In 2015 the WNBA suspended her and her ex-wife, Glory Johnson, for seven games after the not-so loving couple got into a domestic dispute. They were both later arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

In 2020, Griner faced suspension for an on-court brawl she had gotten into, and during the George Floyd riots, she and her teammates refused to take the floor for a preseason game which was eventually canceled.

She had this to say: "I honestly feel we should not play the national anthem during our season. I think we should take that much of a stand." She also said that she "does not believe that the national anthem should be played at sporting events"

But that was then.

Several days prior to Griner's guilty plea, she wrote to our so-called President Joe Biden (D) begging him to use his apparent power to get her butt out of jail and back home where she is free to kneel for the National Anthem once again and beat up on her wife.

In her letter, she wrote in part, “On the 4th of July, our family normally honors the service of those who fought for our freedom, including my father, who is a Vietnam war veteran. It hurts thinking about how I usually celebrate this day because freedom means something completely different to me this year.”

Griner’s defense argued she used  medical marijuana to treat pain from injuries like many other professional athletes. But medical marijuana is against Russian law and Griner should have researched that before traveling there, after all, it isn't as if there exists no pain treatment alternatives.

"With the prescription in place, Brittney may have used it for medical but not recreational purposes," her lawyer Maria Blagovolina said in court, as per Reuters.

Another hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Thursday the U.S. laws legalizing cannabis in some states have no bearing on what happens in Russia. 

"You understand, if drugs are legalized in the United States — in a number of states — and this is done for a long time, and now the whole country will become drug addicted. This does not mean that all other countries are following the same path," Zakharova said.

Russian media has speculated that Griner could be exchanged for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, who is imprisoned in the U.S. Russian authorities have said that no swap could take place until Griner is sentenced.

A Russian court has authorized Griner’s detention until Dec. 20.

Two WNBA teams dishonor National Anthem: walk off court when played

Aside from Rosie O'Donnell, there are hundreds of women and three lonely men who watch WNBA basketball. To the player's credit, they usually don't emit high-pitched screams when they shoot the ball as they do in women's tennis when they serve or volley, but that's where the differences end.

That being said, most people in the world, the vast majority, would rather do anything else than watch women's basketball, which is the main reason the players salaries are not as high as their male counterparts.

On July 25th, the Seattle Storm and New York Liberty players walked off the court and into their locker rooms as the national anthem was being played in the opening game. This is because everything in the world, since Donald Trump had become President of the United States, has become political. If Trump is President, the flag is evil, seems to be their feebleminded philosophy.

It was so political that the players all wore black long-sleeve shirts with the Marxist "Black Lives Matter" (BLM) slogan, indicating that the women supported some black lives but not all, especially black law enforcement, black unborn, and black folks who are shot and killed in gun violence. They may say they do, but all you need to do is observe what happens when any of these tragedies occur. 

The BLM co-founder is a self-proclaimed Marxist who wants to "disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure" and "dismantle cisgender privilege."

And the irony is, many, if not most, of the BLM protesters are white, generally overweight, women with a chip on their shoulder.

Earlier this month, the WNBA announced that its 2020 season would be dedicated to “social justice,” which is the left's way of saying that they want equal outcome, not equal opportunity in life, regardless of effort or ability.

The league formed a Social Justice Council, composed of women athletes who know as much about political ideology as goldfish know about algebra. They bragged that it would  “be a driving force of necessary and continuing conversations about race, voting rights, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and gun control amongst other important societal issues.” 

Whenever I want to learn about gun control, voting rights and racism, I ask an athlete who knows nothing about guns, voting law, and believes all white men are racists based on their immutable characteristics, which makes them racists.

People go to sporting events to get away from everyday life. They go to be entertained, not lectured to by the players who act as if they know more than we do because they're in the public arena.

Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), warned that the sport shouldn’t get involved in politics.

“The truth is, we need less—not more politics in sports. In a time when polarizing politics is as divisive as ever, sports has the power to be a unifying antidote,” Loeffler wrote in a letter to the WNBA. “And now more than ever, we should be united in our goal to remove politics from sports.”

The league wouldn't budge and responded by saying it would continue to “vigorously advocate for social justice.”

Before the season opening game, Liberty guard Layshia Clarendon and Storm forward Breanna Stewart dedicated the season to Breonna Taylor, a black woman killed by police in a shootout which also injured a police officer. The police were executing a court-issued warrant in a drug case and were fired upon by Taylor’s boyfriend. Taylor was shot eight times after the officers returned fire. According to a lawsuit by her family, police did not find drugs at the scene.

The teams held a moment of silence for Taylor for 26 seconds, Taylor’s age. 

The team did not hold any moments for these black homicide victims:

LeGend M. Taliferro, the 4-year-old boy shot in Kansas City and the 95th homicide victim, as his family was waiting on a second heart surgery for him that would never come.

Annette McKay, a 19-year-old shot and killed in Chicago

Marcelo Duclerc, age 32.  And the other over 420 victims, mostly black, shot in Chicago this year.

Michael A. Lewis, 37, found on his lawn  shot multiple times in Macon-Bibb County, Georgia.

And so on.

These black lives matter too, but they don't fit the left's mainly false narrative of police brutality. Yes, it exists, but it's very small and in every case where it has been found, charges were brought forth and indictments ensued.

The WNBA, NFL, MLB and the National Tiddlywinks Association can do whatever they want, this is America. But so can the rest of us, and we don't have to support your political views. I, for one, will not go to a WNBA game, in spite of never having gone to one in the past. I will not watch games on TV, and will switch my brand from Yankee Hotdogs to Hebrew National Hotdogs, not because the latter answers to a higher power, but because they're not political.
