MINNEAPOLIS—In a stunning display of political betrayal that has left progressive activists clutching their locally sourced herbal tea, a prominent Minnesota Democrat has admitted that Representative Ilhan Omar might actually be guilty of something.
Former state Representative Joe Radinovich shattered the sacred progressive code of silence this week by suggesting that allegations regarding Omar's personal finances and marital history are probably true.
The heresy began when Radinovich took to social media to break ranks with party leadership, writing, "Democrats should understand that the allegation is almost certainly true, whatever conclusion they draw from that point could vary, and her denials calling it a right-wing, Islamophobic or racist conspiracy are almost certainly not."
To make matters worse for party loyalists, Radinovich refused to back down when confronted by shocked colleagues. When local activist and former Omar campaign staffer Briana Rose Lee accused him of launching a baseless witch hunt and wrote, "Joe. You aren’t stupid," Radinovich doubled down on his grasp of basic reality.
"You’re right," Radinovich wrote. "I’m not stupid. I believe the Trump DOJ has next to no credibility and that it’s unclear to me the timing of the raid was appropriate—though it’s notable a DC judge signed off on it—but I’m pretty confident this specific allegation is true."
Party officials responded to the shocking departure from the official narrative with the measured, calm restraint typical of modern political campaigns. In a blistering statement released on Friday, Omar's team dismissed their former ally with maximum hostility.
"Joe is a deeply troubled individual whose demons have sadly manifested as an irrational obsession with Congresswoman Omar after managing two losing campaigns against her," the campaign said. "His claims are false, biased, and without any evidence. While he was once seen as a rising star within the party, Joe is now widely recognized as a shill for Republican and Corporate money."
Political observers noted that the meltdown highlights the delicate challenge Democrats face as investigations into the congresswoman continue to unfold, proving that the hardest thing for a modern politician to survive is a fellow partisan accidentally telling the truth.
