We all know that Hamas and Islamists, in general, will never rest until all the Jews in Israel and across the globe have been eliminated. And we all know that when Israel releases well over a thousand terrorist prisoners, they will not give up their hatred of the Jews. But in spite of these negatives, at least for now, Israel and Hamas have agreed to a peace deal.
President Trump announced a breakthrough in negotiations on Wednesday night between Israel and the terrorists and the peace deal, and a 20-point plan, was announced today, Thursday. Trump said both parties agreed that the remaining hostages, dead and alive, would be returned by Monday, while the IDF will withdraw from Gaza to "an agreed upon line."
Because trusting Hamas not to attack Israelis is like trusting a snake promising a love bite.
"The IDF welcomes the signing of the agreement for the return of the hostages, which was signed overnight," the IDF posted on X. "During a situational assessment held overnight, the Chief of the General Staff instructed all forces, both on the front lines and in the rear areas, to prepare strong defenses and be ready for any scenario. Force deployments will be carried out in accordance with the directives of the political echelon and the stages of the agreement, with responsibility and a focus on the safety of our soldiers. At the same time, the Chief of the General Staff instructed to prepare to lead the operation for the hostages' return, which is expected to be conducted with sensitivity and professionalism. The IDF will continue to act to achieve the objectives of the war and to defend the citizens of the State of Israel on all fronts."
"Following the political echelon’s instructions and due to the situational assessment, the IDF has begun operational preparations ahead of the implementation of the agreement," the IDF later added. "As part of this process, preparations and a combat protocol are underway to transition to adjusted deployment lines soon. The IDF continues to be deployed in the area and prepared for any operational development."
A report issued earlier this week by Israel's Defense Ministry, coinciding with the second anniversary of the Hamas-orchestrated massacre that claimed over 1,200 Israeli lives, disclosed that 1,152 members of Israel's security forces have perished since the assault began. Among these casualties, more than 40 percent (487 soldiers) were younger than 21, while 30 percent (337 soldiers) ranged in age from 22 to 30. The document further highlighted that 66 women were among the dead.
In a poignant detail, 40 infants have been born to widows who were expecting children at the time their spouses were slain.
"The State of Israel carries a heavy burden. The history of our country is written in the blood of our sons and daughters," Arie Moalem, head of the ministry's Families and Commemoration Division, stated. "Each family is a world unto itself, and that is how we treat them. … In our hearts, we carry a prayer for the return of the hostages, healing for the wounded and the safe return of the IDF soldiers and security forces fighting for our future."

So is it over? Sure, for now, but if you think Israel will never be attacked again the way it was two years and two days ago, you may be right, and I hope you are, but I believe that's a preposterous notion. At least for now, 48 Israelis will come home and approximately 1,950 so called Palestinian prisoners, mostly terrorists, 250 of whom are serving life sentences, will be released. Don't expect them to start loving Jews now.
