The Israeli Air Force (IAF), a military branch of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), has been flying since the November 27 ceasefire with Hezbollah in order to enforce the established ground rules both sides agreed to. Of course, Hezbollah didn't uphold their end of the deal and had rocket launchers, loaded and ready to go, and aimed at Israel, so the IAF destroyed them in place.
"The IDF continues to be committed to the terms reached in the Lebanon ceasefire agreement, is deployed in the area of Southern Lebanon, and will operate to remove any threat to the State of Israel and its citizens," the Israeli military added, posting footage online of a strike on what appeared to be a truck loaded with surface-to-surface missile launchers.
Meanwhile, the 769th Brigade located in Southern Lebanon found Kornet anti-tank missile systems camouflaged in a tangled, wooded, and mountainous area, along with Kalashnikov rifles, cartridges, and other military equipment, according to the IDF.
In another defensive operation, Israeli forces discovered a weapons cache containing RPGs and mortars. All weapons were confiscated, the IDF said.
On Thursday, an Israeli Air Force aircraft attacked several Hezbollah terrorists operating in Southern Lebanon in violation of the ceasefire terms, according to the military.
Earlier last week, four IDF soldiers were killed in Southern Lebanon. The slain troops were identified as Maj. (res.) Evgeny Zinershain, 43, from Zichron Ya’akov; Capt. (res.) Sagi Ya’akov Rubinshtein, 31, from Lavi; Master Sgt. (res.) Binyamin Destaw Negose, 28, from Beit Shemesh; and Sgt. Maj. (res.) Erez Ben Efraim, 25, from Ramat Gan. All four served in Battalion 9263 of the 226th Brigade, the IDF said.
Israeli forces have killed about two dozen Hezbollah terrorists since the start of the Nov. 27 Israel-Lebanon ceasefire, the IDF announced on Sunday. The IAF has also struck dozens of Hezbollah positions during the same period, the military stated.
Under the terms of the truce, Israeli forces are supposed to withdraw from Lebanon by late January, while Lebanon’s army moves into the areas vacated by the IDF. Hezbollah has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since the day it took effect, according to the IDF.
