George Santos may owe thousands in traffic violations in 2 states

George Santis (R-NY) is a serial liar and appears to be a scofflaw as well. He may owe over $3,400 in unpaid citations according to Florida and New York records.

A vehicle registered to him was cited six times in Florida in 2016 and 2017. He paid two citations for running red lights but four toll violations were unpaid and racked up late fees and eventually sent to collections agencies, as noted in Florida records. Santos currently owes $1,299.10 for running through the tolls without paying and the fees can continue to climb.

On top of that situation are the federal and local investigations regarding campaign finance issues.

One of the tickets issued to Santos' vehicle shows color photos from a red-light camera of a silver Jeep with puppy paw-print and dog-bone bumper stickers. The tickets include a zoomed-in capture of the car's license plate.

In November 2016, Santos, who previously had a Florida drivers license, was issued a driver's license in New York. His car [at least a car with his license plates] piled up tickets in New York City. Over the following two and a half years, Santos received 29 citations, according to city records. And while the records don't identify the drivers of vehicles, unless someone else copied his license plate perfectly, it had to be the congressman from the Big Apple.

Tickets included double parking, expired parking meters and five more red light violations. He made over $1,800 in payments for 17 citations but still has not paid for another dozen. He still owes $2,142,61 according to city records.

There were five speeding tickets issued to Santos' Nissan in New York, and of the five, four of them occurred in school zones.

A spokesperson for Santos' office didn't want to discuss these matters and would not say whether Santos was driving the vehicle when it blew through the red lights, or whether it was he who did not put money in the parking meters when he got those tickets. Instead, the spokesperson said, "What about Hunter Biden's laptop."

And while the spokesperson has a good point about Hunter's laptop, one thing has nothing to do with the other. It's like mixing apples and cocaine.

At this time, Santos is being investigated by the FBI [which needs to be investigated as well] in regard to his raising over $3000 for a veteran's dying dog as well as New York State and federal prosecutors who have announced investigations to Santos. He is also the target of complaints to the Federal Election Commission over campaign spending and the House Ethics Committee.

Rather than resigning from office to allow an actual college graduate take his seat, Santos recused himself from serving on House committees earlier this week.

"This was a decision that I take very seriously. The business of the 118th Congress must continue without media fanfare," Santos bull-slung Tuesday. "It is important that I primarily focus on serving the constituents of New York's 3rd Congressional District and providing federal level representation without distraction."

A Newsday/Siena College poll poll of Santos' constituents published Tuesday suggests the majority believe he should resign. More than 80% of the 653 registered voters polled view Santos unfavorable. Nearly as many, 78%, said he should resign, including 71% of Republicans.

I am one of those Republicans.
