Social media is a place where blood pressure might be in danger because everything you see there should be taken with a grain of salt. For example, Twitter is lit up with the biggest rumor of the year: the possibility that Chinese President Xi Jinping has been placed under house arrest after what is described as an alleged coup to dethrone him from power.
As per the rumor-- Xi Jinping is now removed as the head of China’s People’s Liberation Army or PLA and has been placed under house arrest. All this allegedly due to an ongoing anti-Jinping campaign in China.
There has also been talk of a revolt within the China’s People’s Liberation Army over the ‘Zero Covid Policy’ in China that mandates anyone who travels out of the country to undergo a rigorous quarantine process.
The word around the Twittersphere suggests the "coup" was planned and executed when Xi was in Samarkhand for the SCO summit that saw where global leaders met in person such as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan.
There has been no official confirmation yet from the Chinese Communist Party or the state media about the rumor but BJP leader Subramanian Swamy tweeted that the rumor should be checked out.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is one of the two major Indian political parties alongside the Indian National Congress.
Author and Fox News contributor Gordon G Chang reposted a tweet that claims to show off ‘video graphic proof’ of the rumor. According to the tweet, PLA military vehicles were spotted heading to Beijing on Sep 22. More unverified reports on Twitter that add to the rumor include that of the reports of no commercial flights flying over Beijing. Some China experts however claim that there are no actual signs of a coup yet beyond the commentary on social media.
This video of military vehicles moving to #Beijing comes immediately after the grounding of 59% of the flights in the country and the jailings [sic] of senior officials. There’s a lot of smoke, which means there is a fire somewhere inside the #CCP. #China is unstable. https://t.co/hSUS3210GR

Another expert on China, Aadil Brar, said the reason Xi is out of the public eye could be due to self-quarantining in line with the country's "Zero Covid Policy." He believes Xi will "reemerge in public in the next few days."
If the rumor about Xi is true, this will have serious global implications.
