DeAnna Price breaks 80 meter barrier hammer throw at Olympic trials; 3rd place finisher tries to steal the show

Eugene, Oregon -- DeAnna Price has won the women's hammer throw at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials -- Track & Field, in Eugene, Oregon with a monster toss of 236 feet, 2 inches, (80.31 meters) breaking her own American record. She has broken the meet record twice and the American record twice to land her on her second Olympic team and the podium along with Brooke Anderson's 255 feet 2 inch (77.72) toss.

All five of Price's legal throws would have won the competition but it was the fifth heave that set the American record. She is just the second woman ever to throw the 8.8 pound (4 kg) ball-and-chain beyond 262 feet (80 meters). The reigning world record-holder is Anita Włodarczyk of Poland with a toss of 272 feet, 3 inches (82.98 meters) and she has 18 of history's 20 longest throws.

Price now holds the number 7 performance in the world.

After the event and the traditional Star Spangled Banner was being played, the distant third place finisher, Gwendolyn Berry, refused to face the American flag, and tried to steal the show with a self-indulgent attempt of righteous indignation toward the country, a country that allows such childish displays without punishment. She prepared for her childish display by bringing a tee shirt that read: "Athlete Activist" and holding it over her head.

Meanwhile, Price and Andersen held their hand to their hearts and showed respect to the nation they represent and who support them.

Berry will probably get a Chinese Nike endorsement

“Berry placed third in the hammer throw on Saturday, qualifying her for the Tokyo Olympics. As the National Anthem began to play with the winners standing on the podium, Berry turned away from the flag so that she was facing the stands,” The Daily Wire reported. “Toward the end of the anthem, she pulled up a black t-shirt with the words ‘Activist Athlete’ on the front to cover her head.”

Her garbage display caused an uproar on social media. Many people wondered why this ungrateful person would want to represent a country she scorns. Others suggested that Berry be thrown off Team USA and not allowed to compete in the Olympics over the protest.
“Then don’t compete on behalf of the U.S. in competition. Fairly simple,” conservative radio host Dana Loesch said.

Anyway, let's take the focus off of this person and wish Perry and Andersen all the best in Tokyo and let sour Berry to her own devices.
