Dictator Whitmer mask-less at news briefing June 5, 2020 |
The ballot committee known as Unlock Michigan will soon be collecting signatures to repeal Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's dictatorial powers. This would repeal the law that gives the petty tyrant emergency powers during the pandemic.
Unlock Michigan announced its plan after the state elections board approved a summary of the petition. It would rescind a 1945 law that the Democratic power-hungry governor has cited to close businesses, restrict other activities, and limit group size to curb the Chinese Communist Wuhan coronavirus.
The group has ties to Republicans and needs about 340,000 valid signatures within a 180-day period. If they can succeed getting the signatures, the repeal legislation can be enacted by the GOP majority Legislature and would be veto-proof.
Unlock Michigan's website features a video of Karl Manke, the Owosso barber who defied Whitmer's stay-at-home and hide order by reopening early. She eventually allowed barbershops to open as part of an incremental restart of Michigan's economy.
Unlock Michigan spokesman Fred Wszolek said that Whitmer should not be allowed to continually stretch her state of emergency declaration — the ostensible reason for her tyrannical restrictions.
In May, Whitmer prevailed in court when a leftist judge ruled she could use the 1945 law to lengthen the emergency despite not getting a legislative extension under a 1976 law.
Republican lawmakers had sued her after unsuccessfully seeking changes to the stay-home directive. Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey has said he supports the citizens’ initiative.
“No sensible person should think that any governor should be able to rule by decree for almost a year, with no accountability at all,” Wszolek said.
Whitmer has called attempts to strip her powers “irresponsible and dangerous.” She then ordered her staff to extend a full-arm salute.
The Michigan Democratic Party defended the governor, saying her leadership has saved lives, which cannot be proved or disproved, but they're Democrats and thus do not need proof beyond feelings.
“Repealing the governor’s emergency powers during a worldwide pandemic is extremely reckless and irresponsible, and doing so for political reasons is disturbing and wrong,” it said in a statement, in spite of the fact that she and her husband traveled when there was a ban on travel, and he tried to get his powerboat in the water when this was also forbidden.

It's obvious that leftists in power believe the rules don't apply to them. Lori Lightfoot and her haircut is but one example, and Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio going to the gym in Brooklyn is another.
There are more examples, but you get the point: the rules apply to thee, but not to me.
