NYPD cop caught allegedly trafficking heroin

A New York City police officer Yessenia Jimenez is alleged to have helped her boyfriend run a drug trafficking ring. She used their apartment to stash 250 grams of heroin.

She was arrested Tuesday after a months-long investigation led them to Yessenia Jimenez, 31, and Luis Soto, 33.

The drug trafficking ring spanned from glorious Mexico to New York.

"The defendant's own apartment was being used as a stash house," Manhattan Assistant U.S. Attorney Thane Rehn said.

A DEA official said an agent arrested Jimenez with $25,000 and her NYPD service weapon stuffed in her purse, and an additional $25,000 in another bag, according to the New York Post.

She was charged with drug trafficking and weapons possession.

The officer joined the NYPD in 2015 and has been suspended without pay. NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill said the arrest and allegations were troubling.

Naturally, Jimenez's lawyer, Mark Gombiner, challenged the weapons-possession charge. "This is her service weapon," he said. "Given that she's a police officer she's kind of mandated (to have) her service weapon with her."

Especially when carrying all that money and drugs.

Jimenez was being held on $75,000 bond, which she should be able to come up with if she just had one more bag of cash like the others.

Soto agreed to be held without bail.

Jimenez declined comment but Mayor Bill de Blasio said that he believes the officer's impropriety is directly connected to President Trump and Mueller should investigate.
