President Trump doesn't always say or tweet "presidentially," but many of his decisions would make Ronald Reagan smile.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is an example of how Trump has halted much of our funding to jihad-terror groups and saving us money at the same time.
The United States will not hand out $45 million that it pledged on December 15th to UNRWA. This announcement came just days after Washington withheld a separate $65 million, arguing that this agency needs a "fundamental re-examination."
Money that was earmarked for food aid as part of the West Bank/Gaza Emergency Appeal may be going elsewhere, perhaps to fund Palestinian Hamassholes whose only reason for living is to destroy Israel and kill the Jews.
The funds were pledged by State Department Comptroller Eric Hembree in a December 15 letter to UNRWA Commissioner-General Pierre Krähenbühl, according to Reuters.
"The United States plans to make this funding available to UNRWA in early 2018," the letter states. "An additional letter and contribution package confirming this contribution will be sent by or before early January 2018."
State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert told the press on Thursday that the $45 million was not a guarantee.
"At this time, we will not be providing that, but that does not mean--I want to make it clear--that does not mean that it will not be provided in the future," she said.
"Money coming in from other countries needs to increase as well to continue paying for all those refugees," she added and also said the UN agency needed to reform.
Arab League head Ahmed Aboul Gheit said on Wednesday that the US decision over the freezing of funding was aimed at negating the entire issue of Palestinian refugees. "This decision affects the education and health of Palestinians and aims to eradicate the question of refugees," he said at a Cairo conference about Jerusalem and how much they hate Israel and the Jews.
The United States is, of course, the largest contributor to the UN agency as well as to the UN overall. We are suckers and Trump is beginning to make changes.
UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness said Wednesday that "this dramatically reduced contribution results in the most severe funding crisis in the history of the agency."
So why doesn't other Middle East Islamic countries help them out? Why not have the Saudis, with all their wealth, throw them a few bucks?
Because Palestine is being helped by Iran to destroy Israel.
Hanan Ashrawi, a senior terrorist of the Palestine Liberation Organization [the group that murdered Israel's soccer team at the 1972 summer Olympics after which their leader, Yassar Arafat, received the Nobel Peace Prize] said of the freeze that it amounted to "cruelty" toward an "innocent and vulnerable population."
Part of the reason the funding freeze is a crisis for the Palestinians is due to the fact that money slated for aid is mostly used for funding terrorism.
Palestinian envoy to Washington, Husam Zomlot, said, "Palestinian refugees and children's access to basic humanitarian services, such as food, health care and education, is not a bargaining chip but a US and international obligation."
No it isn't.
When the PLO and Hamas stop using Palestinian children, their schools, and mosques as shields, as they lob rockets into Israel, then their words will have meaning.
Israeli-Palestinians have more freedoms and more rights than those in Palestine. Israeli hospitals treat Palestinians while those in Palestine laugh at the idea of being humane to Jews and infidels.
It's time to stop funding these barbarians.
Good thinking, President Trump.
