Colo. sexual assault may be hate crime

Aurora, CO. -- A sexual assault in Aurora on Friday may have been a racially-motivated hate crime.

Law enforcement officials say a woman was attacked Friday morning at the Mission Viejo Plaza Shopping Center by two black men. The 23-year-old woman, who is white, said they were yelling racial slurs before fleeing.

Aurora police would not comment on whether the case is being classified as a bias-related attack.

"I'm afraid; I'm scared," said Mirna Ontiveros, who works at the shopping center. She told the media that she had been recently robbed at gunpoint, and despite the area surveillance cameras, she would still like to see a greater police presence.

"I really hope they find them because we don't feel safe. And I hope she's okay [the victim] and hopefully we'll have more protection in the area," she said.

Currently, there are no suspects and no leads, but the search continues.

Police are canvassing the area and going through surveillance video.
