The World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. is closed due to the government shut down. It's usually open 24/7 every day of the year even when it isn't staffed. So what can possibly be the reason why a bunch of Ninety-Somethings can't get to see their war memorial and perhaps read the names of the fallen who served in Okinawa and the other battles in which they died? A place where they can go, many for the first and last time they will ever get the chance, to feel as if the country gives a damn about them.
Politics. But more specifically, Obama-style politics.
If you didn't come to the same conclusion as me, you have to be a liberal or from the planet Uranus. Of all the planets in our solar system, Uranus has the catchiest name, I feel.
Obama is refusing to negotiate in any way, shape, or form with the GOP on the Affordable Care Act (and let's face it, the thing really is an act because it isn't affordable and they don't care). In order to put pressure on the administration, the GOP is standing firm and Harry Reid is allowing the government to shut down because on behalf of his political guru, he will not give one inch to their demands.
So Obama wants to make it as hard as possible on the peasants, you and me, and close down things that are visible to the public, and that will make an emotional impact. Remember, liberals and socialists operate best when the facts are subordinated to the emotions of any situation. So he closed visits to the White House, you may recall, and now it's the War Memorial. It's mind-boggling how Democratic voters don't see through this charade. But then again, it's a parade of emotions, not fact.
There is no reason whatsoever to close the World War II War Memorial to the public. It isn't logical in the scheme of things. But like facts, logic is an inconvenient truth to people who can't handle the truth.
And on that note, I'll cruise on by.
