Kaepernick to get off his knees--his job is done

His parents may have misspelled his name when they dubbed him Colin Kaepernick. They may have meant to name him Colon, as in that part of the body up past the nether regions. Anyway, the impotent backup QB for the San Francisco 49ers is back in the news now that Donald Trump is in the White House and the country has healed.

At least Kaepernick believes he can now stand for the National Anthem because the country has healed from the previous presidency under apparent nation-divider, Barack Hussein Obama. 

You remember Colin--he was the center of attention last year when he refused to stand for the anthem in the name of social wokeness, a word a 2-year-old might invent for lack of an adult vocabulary. So he and a few of his fellow social cretins took a knee in the name of social injustice toward African-Americans in Democratic-run cities. 

And a country led by an African-American "Christian."

The nation watched as Kaepernick and his hair heroically went down on one knee, for which the leftist media and Democrats praised him, along with his girlfriend who told him what to do.

Kaepernick even received an inspiration and courage award from his team, while our military was deployed across the globe earning a tiny fraction of what he undeservedly made in pay.

An award for taking a knee showed courage, which is another word for bravery, which has been misdefined by leftists for decades. 

Even Bruce (aka Caitlyn) Jenner got rewarded for courage for wearing women's clothing over his junk while our military risk their lives. Jenner admitted that he was hesitant about 'sex reassignment surgery' saying that "Gender confirmation surgery is something I think anybody in my position . . . " 

In other words, Jenner believes that once his penis is surgically removed and his crotch is made to sort of look like that of a woman, that confirms he's a woman. 

Courageous and heroic, and just a bit mentally ill.

But as usual, I digress.

According to Adam Schefter and other ESPN sources, Colin has decided to no longer get on his knee during the anthem starting next season, when he will be a free agent with little effectiveness as a QB. And while some unwoke folks believe that this is merely a media ploy, I believe he believes the world has become a better place because of his bravery and because we now have a new president who will fight for him and other less fortunate and oppressed minorities.

Trump has helped us to heal, I believe Kaepernick is saying. We no longer are divided by race as we were under Obama. Because of Donald Trump, we are now a nation of one people--the American people.

Kaepernick might even become the QB for the New York Jets, the President's hometown team.

It's a wonderful world we live in, now that Colin and Donald have changed it from the way Obama made it.

Jenner is declared a hero but some of us disagree

ESPN's Espy Awards has declared Bruce Jenner (who now goes by the name Caitlyn) to be the most courageous athlete of the past year and will be awarded the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. 

This award is due to Jenner having had a sex change operation (except for his actual chromosomes and other sexual defining attributes) and had his male parts removed and given a surgical procedure to give him girlish sex appeal.

This is the new 21st Century's definition of brave.

I guess if anesthesia hadn't been discovered and Bruce had to have his junk removed without it, perhaps I would call that brave--stupid, yes, but brave--however, he probably didn't experience fear or pain that people who actually do brave things overcome.

Sure, to go from one gender to sort of another takes a sense of commitment, but in terms of actual bravery, I'm not so sure. To be brave, one must be scared.

The SEALs who got UBL are brave. They did what they had to do in spite of their fear of being captured and killed; probably tortured along the way.

ESPN spoke about Jenner's "courage to embrace a truth that had been hidden for years, and to embark on a journey that may not only give comfort to those facing similar circumstances."

That's nice. It shows he knows what his sexual orientation is and it may help others admit to themselves that they too are not the gender their gear dictates they are. But is it brave of Jenner?

Bravery seems more obvious in Army Sgt. (Ret.) Noah Galloway who lost an arm and leg in the Afghan war. Galloway still runs marathons and performs in other extreme sports and has even been on "Dancing with the Stars." Unfortunately, he doesn't have his own reality TV show.

Lauren Hill knew she was going to die from brain cancer yet she continued to play basketball for Mount St. Joseph. She did, in fact, die but like Galloway, she didn't have a Kim Kardashian in the family.

Don't get me wrong--I have nothing whatsoever against Caitlyn Jenner. I just don't equate what (s)he did to bravery any more than I equate star athletes being equated to heroes.

Atheist Group Offended by Islamic Symbols--No, Wait

An atheist group is trying to keep American mosques from displaying the crescent moon and star above their domes--oh wait, that isn't right. Atheist groups are not offended by Islamic symbols; I almost forgot. 

An atheist group does not want the Ground Zero Cross displayed at the National September 11 Memorial Museum in New York (which opened this past May 21st) where religious Muslims commandeered two commercial jet planes filled with terrified passengers and pilots who had their throats slashed with box cutters, and flew the jets into the Twin Towers, killing 3000 people. 

The mosque displays don't bother the atheists, the cross does.

A federal appeals court now says the group has to better explain how displaying the cross is "offensive" and violates their constitutional rights. Perhaps these atheists are offended by people who believe in God and practice their faiths in ways they see appropriate. Perhaps they had personal experiences with religion that tarnished them for life, or maybe they simply do not believe in a supreme being. What they believe, however, is to stifle the expression of the beliefs of others, except for Muslims.

The 17-foot-high cross is actually a steel beam that was part of the physical structure of one of the towers. It became a source of comfort for first responders who often prayed there and left flowers at its base. This offends atheists but the religious belief in jihad has yet to be confronted by these testicle-challenged atheists.

American Atheists first filed the suit in 2011, allowing 10 years to go by before having the courage to be offended. Imagine if these brave soulless creatures filed the suit in late 2001 or early 2002. The case was thrown out last year by a federal judge in the Southern District of New York.

An amicus brief was filed by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, an non-profit law firm specializing in church-state law, and whose goal is to protect free religious expression and traditions--things that evidently offend atheists.

Eric Baxter, a lawyer for the Becket Fund argued that American Atheists haven't the right to bring a lawsuit in the first place and said, "We're thrilled that the court picked up on this issue."

The atheist plaintiffs have until July 14th to file supplemental legal briefs to determine if the case will proceed. One question they must answer is how the offensiveness of the cross, which the atheists view as a Christian symbol for all 9-11 victims, becomes a "constitutional injury."

Sounds to me like their "feelings are hurt," but hurt is itself a feeling and you cannot hurt a feeling.

Another question these intolerant atheists must also answer is: if displaying the cross "marginalizes them as American citizens" how is that a "particular and concrete injury" compared to just "the abstract stigmatization of atheists generally."

The judge also wants the plaintiffs to prove their claim that taxpayer dollars are funding the museum. Sounds like the atheists make stuff up as they go along.

"Taking personal offense is not an injury that warrants invoking the power of the courts to shut down everything you disagree with," Baxter said. "The Constitution is not a personal tool for censoring everyone's belief but your own."

Sometimes it seems like liberals and atheists search high and low to find things they can be offended by--it isn't that they're actually offended; they just need to feel powerful.

If they really wanted to feel powerful, they ought to do something about the religion that attacked us. They ought to speak out against Islam's hatred for Christians, Jews, and all non-believers. They ought to speak out about those "moderate Muslims" who fail to speak out against jihadist atrocities. But that would require real courage and that is lacking in them like their lacking a belief in God.
