CAUGHT: IL Democratic senator resigns

Illinois Democratic state senator Martin Sandoval [no relation to Alberto Sandoval of limited boxing fame] is under federal investigation for fraud and bribery after FBI agents who were not connected to James Comey raided his Chicago home and his Springfield office earlier this year.

And unlike the case against President Trump, the feds found real evidence that could be damning for the leftist.

Taking an opening phrase from the Lyndon B. Johnson repertoire, Sandoval wrote to the Secretary of the Senate that "it is with a heavy heart, that I, Martin A. Sandoval, got caught by the law and thus do hereby resign the office of state senator. I believed I would get away with a little bit of fraud and throwing a few bucks at the right people to do what was needed to be done, but no, the feds want me out of here and out of here I must go.

FBI agents raided Sandoval's offices and home looking for information on cement and construction businesses along with information regarding bribery or theft of federal funds.

They were also looking for information on a power company, officials, lobbyists, gambling interests, a red-light camera company and information on at least three suburban mayors, pimping, prostitution, illegal immigrant grants, shoplifting, breaking and entering, bank and wire fraud, burglary, kidnapping and cutting the cheese.

Following the raid in his Chicago and Springfield offices, agents were also dispatched to his Cicero office, where the famous orator held a government job in 63 BC, and into the towns of McCook, Summit and Lyons, all part of Sandoval's district.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzer (D) along with other state leaders demanded Sandoval step down as chairman of the Transportation Committee after learning that he would often sneak onto buses when the back door opened to discharge paying passengers.

In his resignation letter, Sandoval said he continues to have respect for some of his constituents but the others "better watch their backs." He also stated that Illinois senators convinced him that his resignation was not up for debate and that should he refuse, well, there may be a stairway with a broken step, or a gas stove malfunction, or a car accident in his future.

Hey, that's Chicago.

Feds raid office of Dem. Senator Martin Sandoval

ALL OVER THE PLACE, ILLINOIS -- Federal agents executed multiple search warrants Tuesday to search multiple locations tied to Sen. Martin Sandoval (D-IL).

At least six agents were seen by a representative for BlueRoomStream (a streaming service for events at the Illinois State Capitol) at the Democrat's Springfield office and others were seen at his 5800 block of West 35th Street in Cicero, according to NBCChicago.com.

"FBI personnel are engaged in an authorized law enforcement activity at the Illinois State Capitol," a spokesman for the FBI's Chicago office said in a statement, but declined to provide more details.

Sandoval has been in office since 2003 and is a member of the Senate Democratic Caucus leadership, as well as chair of the Senate Transportation Committee. It was not immediately clear what the agents sought at his offices, and no criminal charges have been filed against Sandoval, who did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Last month, photos came to light from his political fundraiser showing an attendee pretending to shoot a person wearing a President Trump mask. Of course, this drew the ire of people who view the presidency of the United States as a position to be respected, people often referred to as patriots.

"I reject any suggestion of violence towards the president or anyone else," Sandoval said in a statement at the time, but failing to admonish those responsible. Then he added that he had "absolutely no knowledge that this regrettable exchange... took place." And that the moon landing was a fake.

A spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service Chicago office said the agency was "aware of the fundraiser" but declined to say if the ongoing investigation involved the traitorous photos taken by the Democrats.

The raids at Sandoval's offices were the latest in a long string of FBI searches at various locations tied to state and local Democratic political figures who apparently suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome, a psychological disorder characterized by irrational hatred and the inability to process political reality.

The home of Kevin Quinn, a former top aide to Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, a lifelong Democrat and the brother of 13th Ward Ald. Marty Quinn, was raided in May, according to multiple sources. Madigan's statehouse seat is one of two within the boundaries of Sandoval's Senate district.

Chicago Ald. Ed Burke, a Democrat, was indicted in May on multiple charges of corruption, with authorities alleging he had used his position to steer business to his private law firm specializing in property tax appeals.

The indictment of Burke came after former Ald. Danny Solis, yet another Democrat and whose sister was an aide to two-time presidential election loser Hillary Clinton, was also the subject of a federal criminal investigation in 2014, secretly recorded a number of conversations with Burke using an electronic listening device.

And in June, federal agents also executed a search warrant at the ward office of Democrat Ald. Carrie Austin, reportedly related to the zoning of the area surrounding her Far South Side home.

No Republicans have been hurt in writing this post.
