Residents expressed shock that a man who spent years lecturing everyone else about morality, inclusion, and community values allegedly turned out to be hiding a collection of interests that even Hollywood producers would describe as "a bit much."
Longo, 46, who also operated a coffee shop and served as vice president of the local school board, was arrested by New York State Police on June 18 after investigators alleged he engaged in a pattern of sexually explicit communications with a child under 12 years old.
Authorities charged him with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, while federal prosecutors later alleged that investigators discovered child pornography on his phone, including material depicting the abuse of infants.
The arrest prompted an immediate response from the organization he founded. Cazenovia Pride leadership announced the cancellation of its upcoming Pride celebration and the complete dissolution of the nonprofit.
"This decision follows serious criminal charges against Travis Longo, the founder of Cazenovia Pride Fest and a longtime figure in our organization," organizers stated. "Travis Longo has no further affiliation with Cazenovia Pride, Inc. . . . We are deeply sorry for the pain and disappointment this causes our community. The years of support, love, and solidarity you have shown us have meant everything."
Sources say local residents were surprised to learn that repeatedly declaring oneself an advocate for children and vulnerable communities does not automatically guarantee one isn't secretly a monster.
The school district also moved quickly to distance itself from Longo.
"In the interim, the individual in question will not be permitted on any school grounds or at any district-sponsored events," district officials said. "The safety, well-being, and peace of mind of our students, staff, and community remain our absolute highest priorities."
The Board of Education, apparently realizing that having an accused child predator serving as vice president creates less-than-ideal optics, unanimously agreed to demand Longo's resignation.
The board later released a statement saying members were "shocked, deeply saddened, and outraged" by the allegations and pledged to pursue his removal if he refused to step down voluntarily.

"As school board vice president, the defendant was entrusted by parents and the community to help protect and serve the interests of children," First Assistant U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III said. "Instead, as alleged, he exploited his position of public trust while actively seeking out and accumulating images and videos depicting the heinous sexual abuse of children. This shocking betrayal makes his conduct all the more reprehensible."
The charges carry potentially lengthy prison sentences, substantial fines, and mandatory sex offender registration if convicted.
At press time, dozens of corporate media outlets that normally insist there is absolutely no connection between radical activist spaces and occasional predator scandals were reportedly preparing another round of articles explaining that noticing patterns is the real danger to democracy.
