The Biden administration's effort to modify Title IX to permit men to dominate in women's sports, walk around with their genitals exposed in their locker rooms, and bathrooms was overruled by a federal court across the nation.
Twenty-six states filed a lawsuit to prevent these new rules from taking effect, and in August, the Supreme Court temporarily halted the implementation of these rules. However, a federal court has now issued a nationwide injunction, preventing the regulations from being enforced even in states that did not join the lawsuit.
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, who was at the forefront of the legal challenge against the Title IX changes, described the ruling as a "huge win."
"Biden's radical Title IX rewrite has been defeated in court again," Rokita stated on X. "For now, Hoosier girls and girls nationwide are protected from biological males being able to infringe on their private spaces. Proud to be a part of the coalition of like-minded AGs fighting for this commonsense outcome."
Riley Gaines, a student-athlete who competed against big Lia Thomas, a dude, in college swimming, also lauded the ruling and tweeted:
“Huge win for girls and women everywhere!!! This morning, a federal court ruled in favor of reality. Biden’s Title IX rewrite has been vacated nationwide. Common sense is slowly returning,” Thank you, [Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti]!”Skrmetti published his own post praising the decision, saying, “The court’s order is [a] resounding victory for the protection of girls’ privacy in locker rooms and showers, and for the freedom to speak biologically-accurate pronouns.”
Another massive win for TN and the country!
Alliance Defending Freedom, representing some female athletes and Christian educators opposing Biden's Title IX rules, described the court's decision as "a colossal win for women and girls across the country."
"The Biden administration's radical attempt to redefine sex not only tossed fairness, safety, and privacy for female students out the window, it also threatened free speech and parental rights," said Kristen Waggoner, CEO, President, and General Counsel of ADF. "With this ruling, the federal court in Kentucky rejected the entire Biden rule and the administration's illegal actions."
The Biden administration sought to broaden the term "sex" under Title IX, a law that bans discrimination based on sex in schools receiving federal funds. Their interpretation included "gender identity," potentially allowing biological males to compete in women's sports, which has already led to numerous women losing out on scholarships and medal opportunities.
President-elect Donald Trump has stated he would prevent men from participating in women's sports. In August, he told radio hosts Clay Travis and Buck Sexton that he would address this issue on his first day in office.
