Israeli Navy Commandos capture Top Hezbollah Official

Captain Obvious Lookalike Winner: Imad Amhaz

In a daring Friday night raid, Israeli Navy’s elite Shayetet 13 commando unit apprehended a senior Hezbollah official, Imad Amhaz, in northern Lebanon, as confirmed by Israel’s military.

Imad Amhaz is described as a "considerable source of knowledge" regarding Hezbollah’s naval operations.

The operation involved a sea approach to a chalet on the coast of Batroun, south of Tripoli, executed with the assistance of German naval forces under the UNIFIL mandate.

Unit 504 of the Military Intelligence Directorate, specializing in HUMINT, is currently interrogating Amhaz.

The raid involved over 25 operatives targeting the cabin where Amhaz was found alone.

This capture was in retaliation to a recent Hezbollah rocket assault on Thursday, which resulted in seven fatalities and one serious injury.

The Hezbollah attack saw two missiles landing near Metula in Upper Galilee, resulting in the death of one Israeli farmer and four foreign workers, with one worker suffering severe injuries.

Later that day, another attack by Hezbollah near Kiryat Ata claimed two more lives:

"Paramedics provided medical treatment and CPR, following which a 30-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were pronounced dead, and a 71-year-old man was evacuated to Rambam Hospital due to minor shrapnel wounds," the emergency service detailed in their statement.

A preliminary US ceasefire proposal, as reported by Kan news, suggests Hezbollah retreat from Lebanon’s border with Israel, and for the IDF to pull back from Lebanon within a week. This proposal, led by Amos Hochstein, envisions a 60-day truce transitioning into a lasting ceasefire, emphasizing the enforcement of UN Resolution 1701: "the establishment between the Blue Line and the Litani River of an area free of any armed personnel, assets, and weapons other than those of the Government of Lebanon."
