The Israeli Air Force (IAF) located and precisely targeted Mumin Al-Jabari, a high-ranking member of Hamas' Gaza City Brigade sniper unit, as confirmed by the IDF in a statement released late Wednesday night.
According to the IDF, Al-Jabari was operating from within a building that had previously functioned as the Al-Tabaeen school.
"Al-Jabari directed and carried out terror attacks against IDF troops in the Gaza Strip and stored a large amount of weapons in the room in which he operated," the statement detailed.
"In August, the IDF struck the structure, used as an active shelter, and eliminated over 30 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists."
"This is another example of the Islamic Jihad's systematic exploitation of civilian infrastructure and the civilian population as a human shield for its terrorist activities," the IDF stated, highlighting the misuse of civilian spaces.
The strike was executed with the guidance of IDF and ISA intelligence. The IDF emphasized that measures were taken to minimize civilian casualties, stating, "including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence."
The IDF concluded by reaffirming its commitment to continue targeting terrorists who use schools and other civilian structures as shelters.
