Bills release Matt Araiza after gang-rape accusations

The Buffalo Bills released punter Matt Araiza when a lawsuit was filed Thursday accusing him of gang-raping a minor.

Araiza, 22, is a rookie in the league and faces a civil lawsuit that was filed Thursday claiming that he and two of his San Diego State football teammates raped a 17-year-old girl. She claims to have been intoxicated to the point where she was slipping in and out of consciousness.

The incident reportedly took place last year at an off-campus party.

The lawsuit also claimed the punter gave the victim a drink at a party that “not only contained alcohol, but other intoxicated substances.”

The Bills said the team knew of the allegations about the punter last month and had been looking into the matter.  According to the Athletic, the Bills “did not know” about the case when they picked Araiza in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The "Punt God" as he is known as, said on Friday before being released the incident is not “what they are portrayed in the lawsuit or in the press,” [whatever that means].

If it turns out that Araiza is convicted of the crime, the only kicking he will do will be to himself in the ass because for screwing up a lucrative career.
