Actress Anne Heche was under the influence of cocaine during her high-speed crash last Friday in California. She is currently clinging to life and in a coma, according to a report on her condition.

A law enforcement source told TMZ that the 53-year-old actress had cocaine in her system and this may have also contained Chinese fentanyl when her Mini Cooper slammed into a home and started a major fire.

Initial reports suspected Heche had been under the influence of alcohol, which her representatives denied but actually had no first-hand knowledge whether she was boozing or not.

Police learned Heche had cocaine in her system after drawing and testing her blood at the hospital, TMZ reported, but a source told the outlet that the fentanyl in her blood could have been from the hospital treating her.

Heche was severely burned from the fire caused by the crash, that took nearly 60 firefighters to extinguish.

The troubled actress is seen here with her former lover Ellen DeGeneres who she dated from 1997 to 2000 after which they both decided to "move on." 

When asked about Heche, the comedienne said that they had not been in contact with each other and had no idea of how she was doing [prior to the crash].

The latest news about Heche's condition is not good. She is on a ventilator and there has been brain injury as well. She is not expected to survive.

Footage from before the accident also shows her driving erratically, including when she sped down an alleyway at a high speed and nearly hit a pedestrian.

Sadly, the actress had experienced substance abuse problems much of her life and this may have be how it ends.
