What's the deal with mother of 10-year-old rape victim?

The mother of a 10-year-old rape victim spoke Thursday to Telemundo without showing her face. She said that her daughter "is fine" and said the media is lying about her daughter's alleged rapist, 27-year-old Gerson Fuentes, who might be in this country illegally. [H/T Daily Wire]

While the rape occurred months ago, when the child was probably 9, Fuentes was only charged on Tuesday, after the story went national and even President Biden got into the act.

Fuentes confessed to raping the Ohio girl, who became pregnant and got an abortion in Indiana, having to cross state lines.

The woman who claims to be the child's mother told Telemundo, “Everything they are saying against him is a lie,” the translation reported. She spoke at the home of Fuentes, the alleged rapist, and when she answered the door, she remained off camera and refused to give her name.

The alleged mother claimed that her now 10-year-old daughter "is fine, Jorge Bonilla, who is Media Research Center's director of MRC Latino.

Bonilla tweeted:

The relationship between Fuentes, the victim, and the girl’s mother remains unclear, but something smells fishy, and Bonilla considered that the alleged rapist and the mother may be connected. He speculated that the fear of deportation might be a factor as to why the interview with the mother was so bizarre.

“This portion of a broader interview sheds significant light on the familial dynamics of this case, and further vindicates all skepticism over how the story broke and was handled,” he said. “We don’t even get to this point without the critical work of [PJ Media’s Megan Fox] and so many others.”
This appears to confirm my thesis of a domestic situation wherein the confessed rapist is also the paramour of the victim's mother (other familial relation is possible but less likely). Unfortunately, I saw many such cases while working as a court interpreter.

“The mother’s distressed defense of the rapist suggests that, a: She is also here illegally and fears deportation,” Bonilla outlined. “B: The defendant is the family’s sole source of income, c: There is a likelihood of other children in the home, d: Mom is exposed to removal of the children under dependency proceedings (failure to protect). Has there been such a filing yet and if not why not?”

Additional concerns he brought up was: the time gap "between the initial reporting of the rape and the filing of criminal charges;" why the referring abortion provider did not report the rape to authorities as required by law; and whether the child was "forced to live with her rapist in furtherance of an abortion narrative."

Finally, Bonilla asked, “Was the child compelled to stay quiet until after news of the abortion was leaked to the media? If so, how so?”

All reasonable concerns which needs to be explored because something definitely stinks and it isn't Biden's skivvies this time.
