President Trump spoke on Tuesday about the alleged government-ordered murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a longtime critic of the Saudi regime, a buddy of the Muslim Brotherhood, and a journalist engaged to be married to a woman with a huge head or something stuck in back of her hijab.
According to the CIA, Khashoggi was murdered [at the Saudi embassy in Turkey] at the specific direction of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, according to The Washington Post.
The president's statement contradicts the CIA account and takes the Crown Prince's word that he didn't do it. "I didn't do it. I didn't see nothing. You can't pin this one on me," the CP protested.
And while Trump says the CP denies it, he also points out that the U.S. has a lot of geopolitical interests in the alliance with this s***hole nation, and that Khashoggi's murder isn't enough to let all that oil and all those other interests go just for the killing of one guy who looked like he was on his way out anyway. We need the Saudis because of the Iranians and other regional aggression.
In his statement, the President said:

In his statement, the President said:
"The world is a very dangerous place!
"The country of Iran, as an example, is responsible for a bloody proxy war against Saudi Arabia in Yemen, trying to destabilize Iraq's fragile attempt at democracy, supporting the terror group Hezbollah in Lebanon, propping up dictator Bashar Assad in Syria (who has killed millions of his own citizens), and much more. Likewise, the Iranians have killed many Americans and other innocent people throughout the Middle East. Iran states openly, and with great force, 'Death to America!' and 'Death to Israel!' Iran is considered 'the world's leading sponsor of terror."Here's the thing. Trump is correct about Iran and our need for Saudi Arabia as an ally. But if you believe that the killing of Khashoggi was a bunch of guys gone maverick without the prince's knowledge, you might be interested in this bridge I've been trying to sell cheap.
Then Trump went further over the top with:
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia would gladly withdraw from Yemen if the Iranians would agree to leave. They would immediately provide desperately needed humanitarian assistance. Additionally, Saudi Arabia has agreed to spend billions of dollars in leading the fight against Radical Islamic Terrorism. That last line is kind of a joke. The Saudis are not at all an ally in fighting against Islamic terrorism and their involvement in Yemen is not their altruism as Trump seems to believe. It's their survival instinct, which is why they even began to get chummy with Israel--nukes can make friends and influence people.
