Four dead, several wounded by gunman at TN Waffle House

A manhunt is on for a shooter who gunned down four people and injured several others at a Tennessee Waffle House early Sunday morning before a "hero" patron wrestled the rifle away, police said.

The alleged gunman, 29, began shooting at customers around 3:25 a.m. at the Antioch Waffle House about 16 miles southeast of Nashville. The coward fled the scene after his firearm was taken from him and he had been initially identified as a person of interest but is now a suspect.

"If you see a nude guy walking around this morning call the police department," Don Aaron of the Metro Nashville PD told WTVF.

The Metro Nashville PD tweeted:
BREAKING: [Suspect's Name], 29, of Morton, IL, is a person of interest in Waffle House shooting. Vehicle the gunman arrived in is registered to him. Gunman last seen walking south on Murfeesboro Pike. He shed his coat and is nude. See [Suspect] Pls call 615-862-8600 immediately.
It was later learned that the 29-year-old hero who jumped in and took the rifle away from the gunman is James Shaw Jr. When he was described as a hero by others, he told the Tennessean, "I don't really know, when everyone said that, it feels selfish. I was just trying to get myself out. I saw the opportunity and pretty much took it."

Shaw said that he was grazed by a bullet and was treated and released from the hospital Sunday morning.

The shooter suspect, also 29, is from Morton, Illinois and a manhunt is currently in progress.
