Roy Moore like Hillary Clinton

Roy Moore will not be the senator from Alabama--Doug Jones will be. But if Moore simply received more votes than Jones, I have no doubt that he would be elected.

Since becoming the first Republican loser in Alabama in 25 years, Moore has issued another statement to concede the election, but like Roy Moore, it was bizarre.

It was a gnashing of teeth, fire and brimstone video about same-sex marriage, school prayer, sodomy, abortion, and "the right of a man to claim to be a woman and vice versa."

"We are indeed in a struggle to preserve our republic, our civilization and our religion and to set free a suffering humanity," he said. "Today, we no longer recognize the universal truth that God is the author of our life and liberty. Abortion, sodomy and materialism have taken the place of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

Except that for some, same-sex marriage and materialism is their pursuit of happiness. 

In the video, Moore does "a Hillary Clinton," and refuses to accept the result of a free election in which he lost by 1.5% where 0.5% is the requirement for a recount, unless Moore's campaign is willing to pay for it themselves.

Moore, who is credibly accused of sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old girl about 30 years ago, framed the election as more than a political contest, but also a dire ideological battle for the old cliche: "the heart and soul of our country."

Moore is an albatross around the neck of the GOP. Trump should have never endorsed him, but should have instead suggested a candidate for a write-in vote.

"In this race," Moore began, "we have not received the final count to include military and provisional ballots. This has been a very close race, and we are awaiting certification by the secretary of state."

Jones got about 50 percent of the vote and Moore 48 percent. That's about 20,000 more votes than Moore and it's three times the percentage needed for a recount.

Moore needs to be a gentleman, not an idiot.
