BREAKING: Amtrak train derails in Washington state

Developing: Amtrak train derailed in Dupont, Washington by Interstate 5 near Mounts Road in Pierce County, the Washington State Department of Transportation tweeted.

Injuries and "multiple fatalities" have been reported but the total number is still unknown and the accuracy of such an early reporting is often inaccurate.

The train was going 18 (?) miles per hours, early reports say. But it's unlikely a train would derail at such a low speed. Another report stated it was traveling at 80 miles per hour.

There were 70 people on board.

More to follow as information becomes available.
