Developing: A magnitude 6.9 earthquake has struck off the coast of Fukushima, Japan and tsunami warnings have been issued as waves up to ten feet are possible.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency said the quake struck at around 6:00 a.m. at a depth of 6 miles.
Fukushima prefecture, a district under the government of Japan, is north of Tokyo and home to the nuclear power plant that was destroyed in a huge tsunami that resulted from an earthquake in 2011. The devastation was so bad that debris from the disaster could be found offshore of California.
The New York Times has not blamed President-elect Donald Trump for his climate-denial stance as the cause of the quake . . . yet.
