President Trump orders end to gender 'wokeness'

During the 2024 election campaign, Donald Trump highlighted his differences from Kamala Harris by focusing on her support for transgender issues. His campaign aired an ad where Harris was shown boasting about providing taxpayer-funded sex-change therapies for prisoners. “Kamala Harris is for they/them,” the ad stated, concluding with, “Donald Trump is for you."

Trump promised to tackle what he calls "gender wokeness" immediately upon taking office. Late last night, The Free Press reported that Trump would indeed enact this promise through a Day One executive order:

President Trump has addressed all this and more in an expansive executive order he will sign tomorrow afternoon called “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.”

Here's what the order outlines:

The Executive Order establishes that there are only two sexes, male and female, across all government operations. 

All forms of radical gender ideology in policy, communication, and forms are being eliminated. 

Agencies will no longer treat men as women or vice versa when enforcing laws against sex discrimination. 

“Woman” means an “adult human female.” 

Government IDs, like passports, will now reflect biological sex, not self-identified gender. 

Men will no longer be housed in women's prisons, and taxpayer money won't fund gender transitions for male prisoners. 

The practice of mandating the use of "preferred pronouns" ends, protecting First Amendment rights to acknowledge biological sex.

This order is meant to bring what Trump supporters see as sanity back to federal policy. According to Emily Yoffe, a reporter, "This is far from mere symbolism," and she anticipates legal challenges. However, this might be precisely what Trump and his team are aiming for. While the Dobbs decision was a contentious issue that Democrats leveraged in 2022, there's less division when it comes to the transgender agenda. A recent NYT and Ipsos poll showed:

79% oppose biological males in women's sports. 

71% are against pediatric sex changes, with 90% opposing for those under 15. 

49% feel the government has overreached in accommodating transgender individuals; only 21% believe more should be done, and 28% think a balance has been achieved.

Men pretending to be women

Trump's team believes they're on the side of most Americans on these matters. If Democrats are ready to battle over pronoun use, males in female spaces, and what they describe as the mutilation of children for elite agendas, then Trump and his administration are prepared to challenge them. They see this as a battle against an out-of-touch elite, which they think resonates with the public's frustrations.

This, among other issues, is why the Democrats lost and Trump won, and if they refuse to change their woke ideology, the Democrats will continue losing . . . and that's a good thing.
