Ohio Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown pocketed hundreds of thousands of dollars from a trio of drug companies that were at the center of the opioid epidemic in the United States.
The Federal Exchange Commission (FEC) financial reports obtained by the New York Post, shows that Brown was paid over $200,000 from Political Action Committees (PACs) associated with Amerisource Bergen, Cardinal Health, and McKesson, since 2003.
These Big Pharma companies paid out a $26,000,000,000 settlement to settle thousands of individual lawsuits from states and local governments, Ohio being one of the hardest hit by the epidemic, with over 5,000 drug overdose deaths in 2021, the nation's fifth highest according to the CDC’s National Vital Statistics System.
According to FEC filings, Senator Brown took in a total of $144,500 in contributions to his campaign and leadership PAC, America Works PAC. He raised $85,000 from Cardinal Health, $56,500 from AmerisourceBergen, and $1,500 from McKesson.

The most recent donation was a $2,500 donation from Cardinal Health on September 21 and lobbyists from the three aforementioned companies handed him over $54,000, as well as $5,600 from a McKesson lobbyist in 2021. These three companies comprise about 90 percent of the U.S. supply chain for medical supplies and drugs, and have allegedly been involved in the proliferation of opioids.
There's more to the seediness but suffice it to say, Sherrod Brown is yet another politician getting rich like the millionaire congressmen and women who made their millions from the stock market and insider information.
Brown is running for a fourth term in the US Senate in 2024 in a state that's quickly going Republican, as witnessed by the win of J.D. Vance last year. It seems like people are finally wising up about how the woke left is decaying the global standing of the country.
