Cage the Elephant's [not to be confused with Mott the Hoople] lead singer Matt Schulz was arrested in New York City on Thursday on weapons charges. The arrest occurred at the Bowery Hotel in Manhattan, according to the New York City Police Department. [H/T Fox News Digital]
Schulz, no relation to the late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, faces two charges of criminal possession of a loaded firearm and two charges of criminal possession of a weapon. These charges that went down in the Big Apple, could result in Schulz faces over two hours in police custody as maintenance workers feverishly work on freeing the revolving door.
The NYPD confirmed that a judge granted the cops a search warrant to enter Schultz’s hotel room after they received a call from a Mott the Hoople fan and found two loaded guns. Mott had no comment.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Bowery Hotel for comment and the representative on the phone said they had "no comment" on the situation and asked if they would like their windshield washed.
In 2017, Cage the Elephant won a Grammy for Best Rock Album for "Tell Me I’m Pretty" at the 59th annual music awards and took home a trophy again in 2020 for their album "Social Cues," unlike Mott the Hoople, which failed to reach commercial success.
Cage the Elephant formed their American rock band in 2006 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Two years later, the band moved to England and settled in London, possibly to be closer to where Mott the Hoople originated, but that's merely speculative.
Below is a rendition of "All the Young Dudes" by Mott, who happens to be a Hoople.
In addition to the arrested Matt Schulz, his older brother Brad Schultz played guitar with Cage the Elephant.
Cage the Elephant rose to fame with their second album debut "Thank You Happy Birthday" at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in 2001.

Mott the Hoople, not so much.
