Portland cops ditching the city in "unprecedented" numbers

Portland, OR -- the Portland Police Department is losing cops faster than Bernie Sanders loses the letter "R," and it's happening at a rate than they can be replaced.

Police who are leaving the city are so desperate, they are apparently willing to take a pay cut along with a reduction in benefits, according to law enforcement officials. So it seems that the Marxist of Black Lives Matter and the fascists of Antifa have won, at least temporarily.

The exodus of cops from Portland is "unprecedented," says Assistant Chief of Police Michael Frome in an interview with the Portland Tribune. “We really have not seen this many people leaving at this stage in their career."

It may have something to do with the riots over the summer in which the police were told not to do their jobs and abide by their oath to defend the public. Instead, the police were told to stand down and watch the city burn and rioters run rampant for more than 100 days.

All that in feigned anger over the death of a thug named George Floyd who died of a drug overdose while in police custody after he committed a crime of trying to pass counterfeit money.

In November, nine cops resigned from the Portland PD and another 14 have filed an intent to resign in January. More than a half dozen have filed for early retirement and are willing to take a reduction in benefits just to get out of there. And no less than 25 other cops have requested transfers to other departments outside of Portland, and if they can't be accommodated, they might just quit and do something else with their lives.

Meanwhile, if there were even enough recruits to replace the loss of personnel, the City Council has sided with the woke Marxists and slashed the police budget, so they couldn't even afford to pay rookie cops.

The morale of Portland law enforcement sucks too. The cops were able to shut down yet another "autonomous zone" the rioters set up several weeks ago, and the crappy mayor, Democrat Ted Wheeler, apologized . . . to the freaking rioters!

Why in the world would any sane police officer stick around?

And while the citizens of Portland are the victims in this situation, if they continue mindlessly voting for woke leftists like Wheeler and his cronies, they deserve what they get as a result. I suspect the smart ones will either leave the city or vote their current leaders out of office.
