Denver Mayor Michael Hancock (DEMOCRAT, aka D) received well-earned backlash Wednesday for ignoring his own coronavirus recommendations. He put his butt into a plane and flew it to visit family members. Prior to this, he tried to frighten families in Denver not to travel lest they catch COVID-19 and possibly die or kill grandma.
A half hour prior to his butt taking off, Hancock tweeted a graphic of guidelines from the City of Denver showing how people should barely celebrate Thanksgiving in light of the Communist China Virus.
“Host virtual gatherings instead of in-person dinners,” Hancock said in part. “Avoid travel, if you can,” as his butt took to the sky.
After getting caught ignoring his own recommendations, Hancock’s office put out the following bull crap:
“Host virtual gatherings instead of in-person dinners,” Hancock said in part. “Avoid travel, if you can,” as his butt took to the sky.
After getting caught ignoring his own recommendations, Hancock’s office put out the following bull crap:
I fully acknowledge that I have urged everyone to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. I have shared how my family cancelled our plans for our traditional multi-household Thanksgiving celebration. What I did not share, but should have, is that my wife and my daughter have been in Mississippi, where my daughter recently took a job. As the holiday approached, I decided it would be safer for me to travel to see them than to have two family members travel back to Denver.
A wonderful excuse which I'm sure he'd accept if it came from a Republican. But he wasn't done:
I recognize that my decision has disappointed many who believe it would have been better to spend Thanksgiving alone. As a public official, whose conduct is rightly scrutinized for the message it sends to others, I apologize to the residents of Denver who see my decision as conflicting with the guidance to stay at home for all but essential travel. I made my decision as a husband and father, and for those who are angry and disappointed, I humbly ask you to forgive decisions that are borne of my heart and not my head. And that's supposed to make it okay--all is forgiven. Your bad. Boo hoo. No dude, your decision didn't disappoint anyone--it pissed us off, you freaking hypocrite.
Hancock’s bull crap statement and actions overall were widely blasted online, some of which follows:
"I decided it would be safer for me to travel to see them than to have two family members travel back to Denver"
How can you be a leader & not get how wrong this is? This is the selfishness that keeps us in this mess & it's an insult to everyone sacrificing for the greater good. https://t.co/oUk7Eknpwd

So you want special treatment for *your* family but everyone else is supposed to sacrifice time with theirs. https://t.co/H4m5mOHVeB

Lightfoot mingles with BLM |
Congress should pass a law that if any gov't official violates their own COVID rules those rules get immediately invalidated.Even Ari Fleischer chimed in:
Additionally any citizen who got fined for not following an order should be refunded.
RT if you want those who implement the "rules" to follow them! https://t.co/BKs4ur6tnA

This has got to be one of the lamest, worst, poor excuses of a statement any politician caught with his hand in the cookie jar has ever issued. https://t.co/oUoYcDrDu8

Another one:
What an entitled pompous ass. Just prior to his flight he tweeted that people should avoid travel. https://t.co/8O2jZxKBjX

And this from Byron York"
Truly amazing. Why do elected officials keep doing stuff like this? https://t.co/1lCUc9NeQbAnd finally:

The mayor of Denver is traveling to Mississippi to visit his daughter after urging everyone not to travel for Thanksgiving. This thread boils down to, "I said we all need to sacrifice, but by 'we' I meant 'you'." https://t.co/9NAls2rY1pThe left has no credibility with discerning people--those are people not on the left because they discern better than leftists. We should not give up our inalienable rights because they will continue to take away more and more.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and had as many guests over as you wanted, or was a guest in the same circumstance.
