Portland, Oregon Mayor Ted Wheeler (Democrat), along with his bodyguards, joined with the town's anarchists and was, to his surprise, booed and told to resign. He was given a list of demands and it turned into a struggle as his security detail engaged with the protesters Wednesday night. They had to work their muscled butts off to get Wheeler to safety.
Although Wheeler wasn't physically harmed, he had to make his way into the safety of a building in the midst of the "mostly peaceful protest" and once inside, a few "peaceful protesters" tried to push past his bodyguards in an attempt to peacefully get inside to do their peace work.
Other mostly peaceful protesters threw water bottles and other projectiles at the glass door of the building Wheeler took refuge in, and were unable to hit their target, that being Wheeler's head.
Portland Police declared a riot once the mayor left the riot and tensions escalated between protesters and federal agents because the agents didn't want Portland destroyed for some reason.
The Marxist Mayor had joined other peaceful protesters downtown earlier for a "listening session" where he thanked the mostly peaceful rioters for hating Trump and his administration's "occupation" of the city in the use of federal agents and their blatant attempt at restoring law and order. "Who do they think they are?" someone asked Brain Flushing's ace reporter, Tillio Cachevitz, referring to the federal agents.
"I think what we're doing tonight is actually the best thing we can do right now," Wheeler said as he ducked a full can of Campbells Split Pea Soup. A mostly peaceful protester had just asked him how could they rid the city of federal officers who opposed the rioters.
The Sage of Portland, as Wheeler likes to self-refer said, "Be here, be heard, be unified, and be clear. We didn't want them, we didn't ask for them, they're not trained for what they're being asked to do. And we want them to leave."

In reality, [which is always a sore point for Marxists] Wheeler has no direct knowledge as to the level of training the federal agents have, but it sounded good, especially when he kept repeating the word "be."
Oddly enough, he was nearly drowned out by the shouts and jeers and calls to resign. So even with his pandering, the mostly peaceful protesters saw through his anemic attempts to show solidarity with them.
Wheeler, who is still a far-left lackey, doing his best appear like a pope, pontificated to the much larger crowd from a raised balcony, saying “I am here tonight to stand with you.” But he kept his distance on the balcony and did not actually stand with any of the mostly peaceful protesters.

His pontiff-like words received a few cheers when he chanted “Black lives matter!” with the crowd, many of whom had run out of things to throw.
Wheeler later moved with the mostly peaceful protesters to the fence outside of the federal courthouse where he stood at the front and was properly teargassed along with the mostly peaceful rioters crowd.
Some anarchists had, for some reason, brought along commercial fireworks which they summarily threw at the courthouse and tried to knock down the fencing, but in a mostly peaceful way.

Wheeler gives "thumbs up" and panders with a black power fist to the mostly white crowd |
Wheeler, who, laughingly, is also the police commissioner, has been accused by people with functioning cortexes of allowing the police to do their job by not allowing some of the crowd to express their artwork, or take out their disapproval of "the system" on buildings and local businesses. In fact, the police have used tear gas a number of times prior to the arrival of federal agents earlier this month. Local business leaders denounced the mayor for allowing the situation to deteriorate before the federal agents arrived on scene.
Wheeler was loudly booed when he told a protester that he didn't agree with abolishing the police department, something the fake news media and the left denies the mostly peaceful protesters really want.
