BREAKING: Schaumburg, IL [3:30 p.m. ET] -- As this is being posted, there is an SUV doing damage in the Woodfield Mall, near Chicago.

Two people are reportedly injured and the driver is now in custody.

It appears possible the SUV crashed through a wall. We don't know if the vehicle hit anyone but two people are reportedly injured.

One witness told Fox News that shots have been fired but this has not been confirmed. Police with weapons drawn have fanned out inside the mall.

UPDATE: Authorities had been called for a "mass casualty response" for this incident. The car crashed into the Sears at the Woodfield Mall and began driving erratically through the shopping center. He drove through Sears and damaged several other stores including Forever 21 and Hollister.

Several photos show the man who drove the SUV being taken away and arrested.

CBS News Chicago reported, "A witness, Jason, was ordering ice cream when he saw the car only a few feet away, moving erratically/ He told his wife to get into the nearby Starbucks and he ran to the SUV, which had crashed into a pole. He opened the door and took the keys out of the ignition."

According to the Chicago Tribune, "Schaumburg police and fire officials were at the scene, as were FBI officials and officials from the Cook County Sheriff’s office, who were assisting local officials."

“The FBI is aware of the situation at Woodfield Mall and is assisting at the request of local law enforcement,” a statement read from the Chicago office of the FBI. “There is no known threat to public safety at this time.”

Witness Lateef Farooqui told CBS 2 that he was on the second floor when he saw the vehicle driving through the mall “like you would a shopping cart.” He says the SUV drove over a kiosk and then struck another store and then the driver jumped out but was captured by police.

The Village of Schaumberg tweeted: "@SchaumburgIL Police have reported that one vehicle has driven into one of the entrances at @WoodfieldMall. The subject is in custody. At this time, there is no evidence of an active shooter situation. Please avoid the area if possible."

It was originally reported that some people believed they heard shots being fired but this does not appear to be accurate.
