A Beverly Hills police chief has more problems in her life than an hourly rate motel has bed bugs. Okay, maybe it doesn't have bed bugs but this police chief has more than on her plate than Michael Moore.
Spagnoli is accused of referring to yarmulkes worn by religious Jews as “funny little hats,” and asked if she had to “dress Mexican” when invited to a meal at a Latino employee’s home. She also reacted with revulsion when she was informed that an employee was gay.
Capt. Mark Rosen, a Jewish man, accused Spagnoli of harassment and workplace misconduct, claiming she denied him promotional opportunities based on his religion. [It wasn't clear if he wore a yarmulke on the job, but she evidently guessed his religion by his last name.]
Rosen immediately retired after the $2.3 million suit was settled in December, but said he fears for his colleagues who are not in lockstep with Spagnoli's philosophy about people who don't share the same cultural, ethnic or racial qualities she was born with.
“I am concerned for my co-workers I am leaving behind, the officers and civilians alike who continue to be victimized,” Rosen said.
Spagnoli faces at least 20 civil suits or employee complaints of racial and sexual discrimination, according to court records, but has repeatedly denied the allegations, characterizing them as pushback to her efforts to change the agency.
“I’m disappointed at some of the personal attacks against me, particularly because I can tell you I love this community. I love being a key factor in public safety and making a difference,” she said. “It hasn’t been easy running the department while under fire from different directions." [And you know how some of those people are.]
Chief Sandra Spagnoli is smack dab in the center of a costly and lengthy legal fight after the city agreed to pay $2.3 million to settle a lawsuit brought by a former high-ranking police officer amid a dog-pile of other allegations.
When she was hired in 2016, she referred to herself as a "change agent" and the city's mayor thought she was the best thing since sliced gouda cheese on crackers. City council members couldn't get enough of her and even Vogue magazine who thinks women can do no wrong, lavished praise on the alleged anti-Semite, racist dog, for her aggressive reforms and the way she goose-stepped into her office.

Other court documents contain allegations that Spagnoli had sex with subordinate officers who were later rewarded with promotions, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Heil yadda yadda!
