Big sign along the U.S.-Mexican border: "We're Closed! Back in 2020!"
Just kidding, but only partly.
President Trump really is threatening to close the U.S. border with Mexico and he isn't saying for how long if his administration determines that Mexico has lost "control" on their side. Specifically, Trump is speaking about the situation in Tijuana, Mexico, and the migrants camped out at our doorstep who have threatened to do a "bum-rush" and invade the U.S.
Trump refers to what's going on as "a really bad situation" and says that "if we find that it's incontrollable," then "we will close entry into the country for a period of time until we can get it under control. The whole border."
There are "fistfights all over the streets" in Tijuana, Trump said, adding that "these are not like normal, innocent people."
"These are people you talk to them and they start a fistfight. I don't want that in this country," Trump said.
"We're either going to have a border or we're not," he said, and he is absolutely correct. We either will or we won't, there's no two ways about it. Either yes we have a border, or no we don't have a border.
Trump said the he has given U.S. troops at the border the "OK" to use lethal force against migrants "if they have to." He did not go into detail by what that entails. He told reporters, "I hope they don't have to," then said, "I have no choice" because "you're dealing with rough people."
Hopefully he did not mean that if they get rough, we're going to blow them away. That would be sad!

Then he got even more specific saying the people of Tijuana "opened up with wide arms" to welcome the caravan and "now they're going crazy to get them out . . . because bad things are happening."
