Some of the Antifa leftists hurled bottles and fireworks at police and most of the scumwafers wore black and had their faces covered. The laughable irony was that some protesters said they were demonstrating against police brutality.
One schmuckling held a sign that read "F**k the police." Mommy must be proud.
The group Patriot Prayer bills itself as a peaceful First Amendment advocacy group. They organized the rally, "Tiny's Freedom March," which was a going-away event for Tusitala John Toese, who is close friends with Joey Gibson, the group leader. The event was scheduled for 5 p.m.
The Rose City Antifa scheduled a counter-protest for 4 p.m. "to show Patriot Prayer, just as we showed them last year, that their violence and hatred has no place in Portland."
Of course, the violence and hatred is exactly Antifa's bread and butter. They always call people they don't agree with fascists, but it's Antifa that actually uses fascistic tactics to shut people up. So, in truth, it's Antifa whose violence and hatred that has no place in Portland or anywhere else.
Last year's violence sparked by Antifa led to 14 arrests.
Police said Sunday that the city respects "the right to assemble," but anyone caught with weapons or involved in violence, was subject to arrest.
It's unknown if Sunday's demonstrations resulted in any arrests, but there are videos and photos posted on social media showing protesters fighting and some were probably doused with pepper spray.
Perhaps it's time to label Antifa as a hate group. And anyone demonstrating with a covered face should be made to remove their mask.
