Gen. Robert E. Lee |
Seriously. This is not a satirical post.
Lee is an Asian-American sportscaster who was hired by ESPN in 2016. The network moved him to a different game "simply because of the coincidence of his name" and because they believe Virginia football fans are too stupid to know that he isn't the same guy, who has been dead for well over a hundred years.
That's all there is to it. There are no excuses for such a stupid decision and it shows that ESPN thinks very little of their audience.
Yes, a terrible thing happened in Charlottesville, Virginia on August 12th, when a white supremacist moron killed an innocent person at a rally over the removal of the statue of Robert E. Lee.
However, Virginia football fans are smart people and know that the announcer of the game had nothing to do with the tragedy. If it somehow reminds leftists of what happened there, they probably shouldn't watch a game the late Vince Lombardi called a "collision sport'.
In fact, most football fans tend to be conservative, which is why they are so ticked off at Colin Kaepernick for refusing to stand for the National Anthem, aside from the fact that he sucks of late.
Fully 96 percent of ESPN staff voted Democratic and this is probably a reason for some of its decline. Bob Costas comes to mind and his opining over gun control. Nobody needs a lecture from an insulated guy like Costas.
Lee was moved to the Youngstown State game at Pittsburgh where ESPN believes the crowd won't put two-and-two together regarding his name and the Confederate General's name.
The network says that assignments are changed all the time. Yeah, sure.
