U.S. 'retires' a Syrian bogey

A U.S. fighter plane shot down a Syrian military aircraft Sunday after it foolishly bombed an area near US-backed fighters in Syria, a U.S. military spokesman said.

U.S. Central Command (CentCom) issued a statement saying the aircraft was shot down "in collective self-defense of Coalition-partnered forces."

The U.S. was defending soldiers from the Syrian Democratic Forces near Tabqah.

The Syrian army said earlier that one of its planes was shot down by the US-led coalition during a combat mission against Islamic State militants. And if you believe that, you just might be interested in a bridge I'm selling in Brooklyn.

The U.S. is leading an alliance against the Islamic State, but that jet we shot down wasn't bombing IS.

Now all we need to do is send the same message to North Korea and Iran.
