The Czech government is pushing to introduce a constitutional change that will allow its citizens to use guns against Islamic jihadists.
The Washington Post however, laughed at the idea and said "Never mind that there are fewer than 4,000 Muslims in this country of 10 million people--gun purchases spiked. One shop owner in East Bohemia, a region in the northern center of the Czech Republic, told a local paper that people were scared of a 'wave of Islamists.'
So they're saying 'how can there be a wave of Islamists with only 4 thousand Muslims?'
Well, it doesn't really take a wave. It doesn't even take a village. It takes one fundamentalist with a car, a knife, a truck, a gun, a pressure cooker and so on, to kill non-believers.
And with the wave of refugees flooding into borderless Europe, it makes good sense to be a country that is armed and dangerous. If Europe remains a soft target for Islamists, it's going to get worse.
Czech President Milos Zeman urged citizens to arm themselves agains a possible "super Holocaust" carried out by Muslim terrorists. He even had the audacity to use the politically incorrect term 'Muslim'.
Now the Czech interior ministry is pushing for a constitutional change to allow citizens to actually defend themselves against terrorists. Imagine that.
The vote comes in a few months and must be approved by Parliament.
The Czech Republic has about 800,000 registered firearms and 300,000 with gun permits. To purchase a gun you must be 21, pass a gun knowledge test and have no criminal record. By law, you can use your weapon to protect your property or when in danger, but must prove you face a real threat.
If somebody is screaming "Allahu Akbar" and trying to run you and your family over with an 18-wheeler, is that considered a real threat?
France, in its incredible lack of wisdom, pushed for stricter gun law policies in the wake of the 2015 Paris terror attacks.
That makes perfect suicidal sense.
